Lecia Cornwall Hi Jen—
I'm so thrilled you like my books! The Highland Fairy Tales have been such fun to write! Good news—there are five more MacLeod stories coming! Book #3 (The Lady and The Highlander will be out in early April. The next story is a novella, part of a boxed set with several other authors. That one is based on The Princess and The Pea. I'm currently working on the next story, a Cinderella story which is due to be released in September this year. Then there's a Christmas novella, a full novel based on Sleeping Beauty, and a novel based on The Frog Prince.
Lecia Cornwall There are so many great fictional couples, and a huge number of real historical couples with love stories that are breathtakingly romantic. I find that most of them have tragic endings. Think of Romeo and Juliet, Napoleon and Josephine, Abelard and Heloise, Lancelot and Guinevere, and so many more. Perhaps that's why I started writing romance in the first place, to get a happy ending. I love J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy, and the romance between Arwen and Aragorn...so much sacrifice, so much potential for tragedy, and yet they get their happy ending after all.
Lecia Cornwall Hi Cintia! There is so much story inspiration around you to get you going. Start by keeping a journal or diary, perhaps, and just writing a paragraph or two every day. Watch people around you (I love doing this at the airport whenever I'm there). Make up stories about who they are, where they're going, and why. Imagine what secrets they might hold. I find inspiration in movies, too—what if the character made a different choice than the one the scriptwriter gave them? What if the movie's heroine chose the best friend instead of the hero in the last scene?
I also believe in never letting a blank page go to waste—even if you doodle on that page, let your imagination wander while you do. It might generate new ideas. I wish you the very best of luck, and all the inspiration in the world. LECIA
Lecia Cornwall Hi Beth— thanks for asking. Yes, I'm writing Sorcha's story now. Sorcha will go to London for the Season, make a disastrous debut, fall into a crusty duke's arms, and finally find true love in the Highlands. The theme of this book will be fate.
Lecia Cornwall Hi Jayne! The Rockies certainly are beautiful! Though they're an hour or so west of Calgary, we can see the mountains on the horizon, know if there's snow there, or if they're brown or gold or covered with cloud—it's breathtaking, even from so far away. While Calgary and mountain towns like Banff and Canmore have strong Scottish ties, I think my strongest connection to Scotland comes from my husband's family, and my own love of Scottish culture and history. My husband was born in Paisley, Scotland, and my wonderful Scottish mother-in-law told my children lots of stories about growing up in Scotland, and spending the war years during her childhood in the safety of the Highlands. They're very proud of their Scottish heritage. Inspiration comes from so many places— and Scottish culture is filled with a kind of magic that is so unique. It's easy to find inspiration there.
