I've never bothered to set one up!

Thank you for your kind words. There were five books set in this world, but there are no plans at present to write any more.

Hi Kim, yes, it's a great name for a dog. It was my dog's name. He appeared in each of my novels until he died two years ago. In fact I think it's You Killed Me First that was dedicated to him.

Lose the attitude, okay?

Google it. The Midwest can suffer the tail end of hurricanes.
And don't send messages with such an attitude. You're really rude.

Hi Denae, I hope you're well. I don't have a list of questions I'm afraid. Really sorry. Thanks for choosing my book though. John

The One, The Marriage Act and The Family Experiment were published by one publisher, and The Passengers and The Minders were published by another. So sadly they won't be working together to put all five together under the same umbrella. While they don't need to be read in order, technically, The Passengers would be second on that list.

I have no idea. I write 'em, I don't sell 'em!

I freelanced at loads of places.... Guardian's The Guide, Nuts, Q, Men's Health, Total Film, OK Magazine etc etc. I was very tabloidy!

I actually thought of the title first and then built the story around it.

It says somewhere in the book that he wanted to change his name to escape the country and picked something simple and common that wouldn't flag up as suspicious or unusual.

You are very kind! Another psych thriller in March 2026, I believe. Just putting the finishing touches to a draft now.
John Marrs
No thanks.

(view spoiler)[Great book! But I am dying to know....So Nina's father was not abusing her like Maggie thought but cheating instead? Is that correct? Thanks in advance. (hide spoiler)]
John Marrs
Yep, you're right. He was cheating, not abusing her. J x

What I listen to when I work is very different to my normal listening. I choose artists like Cigarettes After Sex, The War On Drugs, Sigur Ros, Royksopp and Massive Attack.

I'm an equal opportunities character killer. I've blown up men and women in The Passengers, killed both sexes and at will with Keep It In The Family, and both male and female OAPs in The Family Experiment. In fact most of my books have the deaths of men as well as women. Perhaps only The One has a higher female ratio. Is there a reason why you ask?
John Marrs
I don't have just one favourite, it's like asking which is my favourite family member! I like them all for different reasons.
John Marrs
I'm afraid not. We don't have the time to do all that and write books!
John Marrs
Hi there. They don't have to be ready in order, but if you choose to, then start with the one, followed by the passengers, followed by the minders, which is 99p to download in the UK this month, then the marriage act, and finally The family experiment which is out tomorrow. Hope this helps!

(view spoiler)[I know it's probably a question you get a lot, but, in your mind, does Laura ultimately reap what she sows or do you see her "winning" in the end? I also wanted to say I really enjoyed this book, even though I felt sad and frustrated, haha. (hide spoiler)]
John Marrs
Hi there - I'm afraid I can't give you an answer! I don't expand upon my endings. It's up to you guys to decide if Effie did deliver on her plans or if Laura found a way to evade justice.
