Eva Marie Everson Hey, Mary! I am SO SORRY I am just now seeing this ... yes, we did! Miriam lives there and is quite familiar with the land and the landscape. It was an amazing two weeks of my life! I have now been in Israel with Miriam three times... She is a dear friend!
Eva Marie Everson That's a great question ... and I'm not 100% sure of the answer. I have created small Southern towns, which is a part of my history, that I think I'd like to live in. For example, the small towns Mariette and Thayne live in (This Fine Life, Baker/Revell 2010) have always held a certain charm to me. Mainly because of the era, I think. Post WWII held so much promise. Simplicity. I like that. Perhaps this wasn't the greatest time in history for EVERYONE, but we were on the cusp of it. I like that very much.
Eva Marie Everson Maddie,

Oh ... poor Inga! :)

So, here's the story ... originally there was supposed to be another book (possibly two) which told the continued story of both Inga and Magda. But that didn't pan out and instead Tyndale had me write The One True Love of Alice-Ann (which doesn't have so many characters LOL).

I'll tell you what is in my notes for Inga (will that help? LOL).

Inga marries the young pastor who is given quite the leg up in their denomination because of his willingness to marry her. While his intent was good, when someone so young and inexperienced receives so much so quickly, well ... there are bound to be disasters. He becomes more married to his work than Inga ... but he truly loves the daughter they have together.

Inga is a good mother and a dutiful wife (I had Magda mention that to Betty), but there is no love between her and her husband. When he is clearly over his head, however, strong-willed Inga steps in to be the help-meet she should be and, in all that, she and Axel fall in love.

Ah, but not so fast ... remember that Inga wrote a letter to Frank right before she married? Well, he has since married and had a child who dies shortly after her third birthday. Knowing he has a child out there somewhere else drives him to find Inga and their child. Of course this not only upsets the apple cart of Axel and Inga's marriage, but they are forced to hire an attorney, and they fear that when the true story of their marriage comes out, Axel will lose his position in the church and Inga will lose her position in the community.

In the end, Axel decides that he achieved his goal without the hard work that comes with it. He has the opportunity to take a smaller church in a remote community where, after he and Inga win in a court battle against Frank, they can begin again. When he proposes to Inga that they take it, they are faced with whether or not to endure "the talk" of a big town or to live quiet lives, something neither of them ever felt they were meant for.

So ... what do you think they'll do? :)

And ... do you think I should go ahead and write this story even if I have to publish it with another house? Or self-publish? What say you?

Eva Marie
Eva Marie Everson Barbara, I'm so sorry that I'm just now seeing this... did you receive your book? This is something Tyndale handles so I'm out of the mix, but I'm happy to make sure you DO receive your book. :) Please let me know directly at PenNhnd@aol.com.

Thank you!
Eva Marie Everson Oooh. Good question. My father was a graduate of the FBI Academy and worked as a state investigator for the GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigation). He had a case once that I've often said I would turn into either a short story or, perhaps, a novel. I'd need to "build" on it a little first ... but I think it would be interesting. Basically, it's about what happens when someone overhears something on the phone that they shouldn't have heard ... :) (I'll leave it at that.)
Eva Marie Everson I take long walks. Or long showers.
I watch old movies. Or read good books by good writers.

WB doesn't last long when I do those things.
Eva Marie Everson I get to do what I love and get paid for it! But honestly, even if I didn't get paid, I'd do it. Like I said before, I have to write. I just have to.

Also, I can finally talk about all those people running around in my head talking to me and no one wants to send me to the funny farm! :)
Eva Marie Everson Oh, that's easy! Join Word Weavers International (Word-Weavers.com) so you're in with like-minded folks who want you to succeed, want to help you succeed, and will be honest with you about your strengths and your weaknesses.

Go to writers conferences. If you want to meet agents and editors, you MUST.

Write, Read. Repeat.
Eva Marie Everson I'm working with Eric Eichinger on a bio about Eric Liddell, Olympic Gold Medalist who inspired the movie Chariots of Fire. This book will be published by Tyndale Publishers.
Eva Marie Everson Well, contracts with due dates on them help! :) But honestly, I cannot imagine NOT writing. NOT writing is like NOT breathing. I have to write.
Eva Marie Everson Thank you for this question. I have three books about to release:
1. The Bipolar Experience, which I wrote for LeeAnn Jefferies. I'm excited to help share the story of a woman with bipolar disorder who became a successful Eileen Ford model.
2. God Bless Us Every One, which releases next month from Abingdon. The idea didn't COME to me ... it CAME to me. Abingdon picked up the phone, called me, and said they wanted a book with reference to A Christmas Carol but not a retelling. When I read more about Dicken's life, the story of Charlie Dixon came quite naturally.
3. The One True Love of Alice-Ann ... now THERE is a story! The name came to me first. One afternoon while I sat at my desk working, the title simply popped into my head. I started doodling notes on a piece of paper. Within about an hour the story was full-fleshed and ready for me to write the synopsis. The germ for it, however, came about from a story neighbors told me years ago about his time in WWII. This is not THEIR story, but their story surely inspired it. :)
