Ruth White Keepers of the House by Shirley Grau, an oldie, but goodie.
Ruth White Thank you! Check out The Search for Belle Prater. I will admit it is not as good as BPB, and many of my readers have told me that. So, if you had rather not be disappointed, read Way Down Deep instead, and its sequel, The Treasure of Way Down Deep. They are set in WV. Happy reading!
Ruth White My favorite fictional couple is Meggie Cleary and the priest in The Thorn Birds. Why? Because their love is forbidden, and the sexual tension between them practically makes the pages vibrate throughout the book. Fantastic writing.
Ruth White Thank you, Anna. I am so glad you liked Diary of a Wildflower. No, I don't think there will be a sequel. I did what I set out to do - gave my mom a happy ending. In real life it wasn't that happy. I know I am better with the "country style" books, as you put it. It's definitely true you have to write what you know. I am just beginning one now. The working title is Mariah's Acre. I will certainly announce it on Goodreads when it is finished. Again, thanks! Ruth
Ruth White Hello, J.D. Staton. Thank you for writing to me. I'm glad you are interested enough in the book to share your thoughts with me. To be perfectly honest with you, this is not the book I meant to write. Originally, I had planned to write a series of books called Blue Remembered Hills, about the environment, our treatment of animals, planetary colonization, the military, industrial complex, etc. Each book would feature the Blues visiting different times and places in the universe. When I sent the first fifty pages to an editor she began to direct me on how the book should go. It was my own fault for not following my instincts. Anyway, the result was disappointing to me and to my editor. It has not done very well, so no, there will not be a sequel to You'll Like It Here (not my choice for a title either). BUT on a much brighter note, I have begun my series on all the themes listed above. The series title is Mansions of Karma, and the first book, Lily of the Valley, is now available on Kindle and also in paperback. I hope you will check it out. It is a much, much better book, and all the themes, in time, will be given the attention they deserve. Book Two: This Other Eden is now in the works. Thanks again. I'm glad to get this off my chest! Ruth White
Ruth White I have just finished and published my new book, Mansions of Karma. Check it out at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MS9W1DU
I plan to start on the sequel right away.

Ruth White That means a lot to me, Sherrie. Hope you will check out my latest, Mansions of Karma. Thank you so much!
Ruth White When I first became interested in reincarnation and the environment many years ago, I wrote the basic story of Mansions of Karma on an old, clunky black typewriter. I didn't have the skill, however, or the experience at that time to make it work. It seemed to have no soul. So I put it away and worked on other things. I published many novels over the years, mostly for young people. About two years ago, I took out that original manuscript of Mansions of Karma again, and decided to give it another try. I have never worked harder on a book, never loved my characters more, and never been more proud of any of my books. I sincerely hope my readers will like it. Publication is Sept 30th (2014), and it is now available for pre-order.
Ruth White I force myself to write one sentence, no matter how tacky. Then I edit that sentence, or I quit for the day. But quitting is rare. Most of time that one sentence leads to another, then to a paragraph, even a page, and I'm back into the swing.
