G. Scott Graham is an existential handyman — fixing what’s broken, realigning what’s off-kilter, and helping people rebuild their lives with meaning, purpose, and the occasional strip of duct tape. He’s also an author, career coach, business coach, and psychedelic support coach based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Scott is driven to help clients follow their “true azimuth” — a direction distinct from “true north.” It’s not about chasing some universal ideal. It’s about identifying what genuinely matters to you. It’s about recognizing the forces that pull your life off course and learning how to adjust so you still arrive where your heart wants to go. When you're 90 and looking back, your life should feel like it was truly yours — filled with prid

I actually started this group to help others but the benefits I have received have been immeasurable.

The structure and accountability have made writing much easier, especially on books that I have found more difficult to get out of my head and onto the computer.

The key I have found is to just write and write and write and not evaluate what I am writing while I am writing it.

I have worked with coaching clients who have wanted to write and have used the two tactics I just described with great success: (1) write regularly and (2) just write, don't evaluate.(less)

I’m Doing a Mud Run 12 Days After Hip Replacement Surgery

Groot, Rocket and me on August 3 2024 (Savage Race Boston)

Less than two days from now, Groot, Rocket, and I are doing another obstacle course together.

Today, I found myself weeping.

It came suddenly, in that kind of quiet that shows up when everything else goes still — when the distractions fall away, and there’s nothing left but breath and gravity. I wasn’t afraid. I wasn’t anxious. I wasn’t in pa

The Tao of Dogs by G. Scott Graham
“Humans measure things.
Dogs just move.
Joy isn’t stored in a trophy.
It bursts midair
when the paws leave the ground.
There is no shame in bounding toward nothing.
There is no failure in missing the ball.
The game is the game
because it moves.”

The Tao of Dogs by G. Scott Graham
“Every blade of grass
holds a headline.
Every tree base is a bulletin board.
You call it dawdling.
I call it research.
The Way isn’t a straight path.
It’s a thousand scent trails
braided into meaning.”

SUP with your Pup by G. Scott Graham
Be honest — if your dog had their own paddleboard, where would they go, and what kind of chaos would they cause when they got there?
Now what? After Your Vipassana Course Is Over by G. Scott Graham
My first course was rough — I was vomiting outside the meditation hall and wanted to leave. But when I made it through, the experience was so positive, so transformative, that I came out of it with a kind of fundamentalist zeal. I had a strict view o See Full Answer

“If they aren’t asking for information, what are they asking for?  They are saying they are stuck and can’t gather enough traction to get unstuck.  They are saying that they are not able to choose because they lack the wherewithal to take action.  They need a charge, a spark, an incentive, and they need it from within themselves.  A well-placed why provides this spark. Not”

G. Scott Graham, Psychedelic Preparation Workbook: Sixty Days to Engagement

“Empathy is not just a quality. It is also a skill. One of the core techniques in the most popular and most powerful counseling techniques in use today, Motivational Interviewing, is Express Empathy... Empathy is not some airy-fairy thing you only get when you walk in another person’s shoes. It is something that can be learned.”

“Our department takes 1,120 calls every day. Do you know how many of the calls the public expects perfection on? 1,120.
