The Spiritual Squat
Can you remember a day where you were so ready to throw in the towel. It seemed like almost every possible scenario that could go wrong, did?
We've all been at the end of our rope when one more little thing pushes our buttons: perhaps the cat threw up, you stub your toe, or heaven forbid you overcook dinner.
And then it's off to the races. You lose your cool. You're done with this day and want to sleep until the weekend. You start asking yourself "whyyyy meeeeee?".
Let me explain why these seemingly awful days are actually good for you.
Every time life knocks you on your butt, and you get back up, you've just done a spiritual squat and you're now stronger because of it.
Muscles are built from resistance, right? You lift something heavy, create little micro tears in your muscles and then they grow back stronger. Well it's the very same principle with your mental and spiritual strength too.
You don't become a better, stronger version of yourself by hiding in your house and vowing to never be challenged again. You grow because you're being challenged.
Embrace life's challenges, even on days when you don't think you can handle it. You'll never know what you're truly capable of handling unless you are (unfortunately) pushed beyond your comfort zone.
A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there. So think of the sh*t you're dealing with in your day like manure in a garden. Yeah it's not pleasant, but it's gonna make you bloom bigger and more beautifully than you could have ever imagined.
Some spiritual squats are deeper than others, and you'll really feel that burn, but that's when the most growth happens. So grin and bare it, while you build that spiritual booty of yours.
Check out this little video I created to really send this message home: http://www.lkelliott.com/home/the-spi...
Sending you love, light and inspiration for your journey ahead,

The University of Life
Do you believe life is a random series of events that occur, or do you believe things happen for a reason?
I believe that each and every experience that happens in our lives is serving a purpose, regardless of if it is a positive or negative experience. Every circumstance we encounter teaches us something about ourselves, our life, or our destiny.
Each day is essentially a lesson from the University of Life and each struggle we encounter is simply a test to help us evolve into stronger, more balanced individuals.
The lessons in life’s curriculum are non-voluntary, but our participation and success with these tests are entirely in our control; in the ways that we choose to perceive our tests, and how we accept each challenge that presents itself in our path.
Yes it is true that some lessons can cost us a lot of time and money, but doesn’t most post-secondary education? If we can learn to accept the challenges that we face, and focus on the opportunity for growth rather than the inconvenience it is creating, we can really improve our lives drastically.
Life is but a journey of evolution: physically, mentally and spiritually. We must be mindful that all experiences in life are bringing us new thoughts, lessons and strengths that we can apply into the rest of our lives. Never fear the lessons, and never resent them, for if you are not learning and growing, then you are not living.
Accept obstacles as a sign that you are alive, and know that each obstacle you overcome strengthens every aspect of who you are. It brings you an inch closer to your limitless potential being realized. Life will never give you more than you can handle, so have faith in yourself, and your abilities, and know that everything you need to succeed in this life is already within you.
This blog will be dedicated to the University of Life and all of its lessons, and will focus on balance between physical, mental and spiritual well-being in life. I will share my personal experiences, beliefs, and knowledge as I pass and fail life’s pop quizzes along this journey.
I will also be open and receptive to any questions or future topics you may have. There is a “Hot Mess” in all of us, just waiting to be heard; so please don’t hesitate to email me with questions, comments, or concerns: lk.elliott@hotmail.com
I feel incredibly blessed to get to share my life with such wonderful, empowering people, so I would like to thank you for joining me in this journey. Every day is a new opportunity for a new life, and I am so pleased that you chose to spend a portion of that new life with me today.
All my love and light,
-L.K.
