Hari Parameshwar I believe, as a reader, that a book should give us in return more than the worth of time that we invest in reading it. In today’s busy world, time is …moreI believe, as a reader, that a book should give us in return more than the worth of time that we invest in reading it. In today’s busy world, time is the scarcest resource. If I’ve to spare 10 or 15 hours reading a book, for me, that time could be spent creatively in many other ways as well. So, if a book fails in giving me back the worth of my time, I would be a dissatisfied soul.

At the same time, it’s important to accept the fact that all books are not for everyone. Our like or dislike need not be an indication of the real worth of the book. Reader experience is a psychic process, depending many of our internal attributes. Occasionally it could be the outcome of our perceptions against our expectations. A book that is of our ‘five star’ liking could turn terrible for someone else. So, it's better to be selective, exploring a little bit about the book, checking the views of those who share our interest and liking, and maybe taking a quick flip through (in stores) or going through a sample chapter (online), before buying a book. Cost of a book can be too trivial compared to the cost of our 10-15 hours!

Regarding the second part of the question, about Chase of Choices, it’s true that the book unveils many universal laws of life, in the context of the story, which could turn insightful for the readers. But it’s certainly not a book that deals with the psychology of intuition. If you are looking for such a book, you must try my first book, Many Paths Many Answers. Chase of Choices has full of life, in its true sense, spoken truthfully, and thus, most of the readers like those nuggets at the end of the chapters which may facilitate as a keyhole to peep in to one’s own life, in a detached manner. Still, there are a few who feel those summations hinder the flow of story. Some readers said they ignored those nuggets while reading, as they were too engrossed in the story, and revisited them later, after finishing the book. That’s how the reader perspective varies. I am happy that it has so far lived up to the expectations of 90% of the readers, as what you see from the reviews.(less)

“It is an unwritten rule of life that when you are in acute pain and have no one to console you, someone, from somewhere, will emerge in your life to offer you comfort. However, ‘that’ someone will vanish from the scene once you begin to regain grip on your life, leaving you with another sense of loss to nurse.”
Hari Parameshwar, Chase of Choices

“It is an inherent nature of life: Whenever success is in your reach, it tosses either an unexpected obstacle or an alluring offer, straight on your path. That unexpected manifestation, obstacle or offer, would either prompt you to press the panic button or distract your focus from your target. As you become busy dealing with the fresh situation, time, with its own flair, flies miles away from your reach, with the reward in offer. Those who endure, without getting disturbed by the obstacle or decoyed by the illusive offer, will reap the fruit. Others will flop, falling as victims to life’s conspiracy.”
Hari Parameshwar, Chase of Choices

“Life is an art of managing conflicts—conflicts between our expectations and perceptions. It is like a tightrope walk. We load our expectations from life on one end of the bar and our perceptions about life on other, and move on the rope, relying on the balance of the stick. Overload, on any end, can fling us down, ruining the remaining journey. Some might survive such falls through repeated mood swings or with emotional breakdowns, while some might go down, diving deep into the bottom of depression.”
Hari Parameshwar, Chase of Choices

“Facts are like cows. If you look them in the face long enough, they generally run away.”
Dorothy L. Sayers

“Creativity is knowing how to hide your sources”
C.E.M. Joad

“I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.”
Douglas Adams, The Salmon of Doubt: Hitchhiking the Galaxy One Last Time

“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.”
Cicero

“Reading was my escape and my comfort, my consolation, my stimulant of choice: reading for the pure pleasure of it, for the beautiful stillness that surrounds you when you hear an author's words reverberating in your head.”
Paul Auster, The Brooklyn Follies
