Pamela Allegretto Franz attended Colorado University Extension in Denver, and later moved to Florence, Italy where she studied art and Italian at L’Università Per Gli Stranieri. To finance her education her job résumé was as colorful as the Renaissance city itself. She shivered as an artist’s model and sang the blues in catacomb nightclubs. She worked as an interpreter/translator for a textile company and hawked leather goods to tourists.
Back on US soil, the colors on her résumé remained vibrant. In addition to Italian teacher at Berlitz School of Languages and a two-year stint as a Playboy Bunny, she added hairdresser/salon owner, to her palette. Classes in writing, cartooning, and art filled whatever free hours remained.

He is a Roman soldier over 2,000-years-old, who resides in the family farmhouse in Southern Italy. Yes, he's real. In addition to multiple personal sightings and listening to him march back and forth at the foot of the steps every night, all night, I have captured him in a photo: complete with helmet, chest-plate, greaves, sword, and shield. “WORLD BOOK DAY”

There’s no better way for me to celebrate “WORLD BOOK DAY” than to share this recent Amazon UK Bridge of Sighs and Dreams5-star review from award winning author, Alison Morton.

“Stoic is the word which springs to mind when you consider the protagonist, Angelina, yet she is courageous, warm-hearted and a survivor. But the author is particularly clever in developing Angelina’s nemesis Read more of this blog post »

“She dreamed of Venice. However, it wasn’t a city alive with stars dripping like liquid gold into canals, or Bougainvillea spilling from flowerpots like overfilled glasses of wine. In this dream, Venice was without color. Where pastel palazzi once lined emerald lagoons, now, gray, shadowy mounds of rubble paralleled murky canals. Lovers could no longer share a kiss under the Bridge of Sighs; it had been the target of an obsessive Allied bomb in search of German troops. The only sign of life was in Piazza San Marco, where the infamous pigeons continued to feed. However, these pigeons fed not on seeds handed out by children, but on corpses rotting under the elongated shadow of the Campanile.”
Pamela Allegretto, Bridge of Sighs and Dreams

“I have always liked the concept of trying to put myself in someone else’s shoes, in order to better understand the basis of their emotions and actions. When we are fleshed out and outwardly adorned we are all unique. But under the costumes and grease paint, we are one, all Mother Earth’s children. I still have hope that in my lifetime I will see everyone, despite their race, ethnicity, religion, lack of religion, economic situation, sexual orientation, etc., treated with dignity. How hard is it, really, just to treat people the way you want to be treated?”

Greg Seeley Pamela,

Took a while as I had some distractions and interruptions but just finished reading "Bridge of Sighs and Dreams" - phenomenal ! I knew I wanted to finish it but, at the same time, wasn't anxious for it to end. I'll post a full review soon. I hope you'll enjoy "Henry's Pride" as much as I enjoyed your book. Anxious to read your next work.

Greg Seeley Just starting to read "Bridge of Sighs and Dreams" but must tell you I'm already hooked three chapters in. You are an exceptional writer. The struggle against the Fascists reminds me favorably of Hemingway's "For Whom the Bell Tolls."
