The Boy in the GutterI've always wanted to write a detective novel. To me, its a right of passage. I had thought about writing a book in the tradition of hard nosed private eyes like Philip Marlowe, Sam Spade, and Lew Archer.
In the end though, I chose a Chinese-American student as a protagonist. I set it in the usual spot for this genre--Los Angeles, and shifted back in time to just a few years after WW2.
Time will tell if what I wrote is any good.
