Born and raised in Anchorage, M.A. Nichols is a lifelong Alaskan, though she briefly ventured south to get a fancy bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a master’s degree from Utah State University—neither of which had anything to do with why she became an author, but they kept her alive while launching her publishing career.

As a child she despised reading, but thanks to her mother’s love and persistence, she saw the error of her ways and developed a deep and abiding obsession with books. Currently, she writes sweet historical romance and fantasy, but as a lover of many genres, she plans to explore more in the future.

The poor girl had a tragic story in The Shameless Flirt (more tragic than the readers know because there were things going on behind the scenes that are really heartbreaking for her that I couldn't reveal at that time), but I always knew she would be getting her own happily ever after eventually. She chose to give in to her parents' pressure, but Sir Duncan is so much older than him and isn't destined to live for very long after their wedding. At which time, Lydia will find someone who does make her very happy. :)

I plan on writing that book sometime soon, and hopefully, it should come out in 2021.

UPDATE!!! "A Tender Soul" is Lydia's story. Check it out at https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...(less)

This little-known gem from Louisa May Alcott is unlike her usual fare, and I have to say that it is an emotional rollercoaster of a ride. Gothic / melodrama at its finest. While this lacks the depth of her other books, it's a fun read.

“That is the nature of falsehoods. Like a small debt incurred, the interest builds, and when collection is due, the burden is much greater than the original lie was worth.”
M.A. Nichols, The Jack of All Trades

“Anxiety is such a useless sentiment. It does not divert impending disasters nor does it help in preparing for them. And it is by no means an accurate portent of doom for more often than not, it signifies nothing. Anxiety simply stretches out the torment so that one feels it long before the pain strikes and ensures that if those fears prove unfounded, the afflicted person suffers nonetheless.”
M.A. Nichols, The Shameless Flirt

“He had faced armed frigates and the threat of death countless times, yet none of it compared with the possibility of having Tabby taken from him again.”
M.A. Nichols, A True Gentleman

“I can't imagine a man really enjoying a book and reading it only once.”
C.S. Lewis

“Think books aren't scary? Well, think about this: You can't spell "Book" without "Boo!”
Stephen Colbert, I Am America

"What if they don't?"
"That just means you haven't come to the end yet.”
