I'm R. Cooper, a somewhat absentminded, often distracted, writer of queer romance. I'm probably most known for the Being(s) in Love series and The Suitable 'Verse stories. Also the occasional story about witches or firefighters in love.

You can visit my website for updates or sign up for my newsletter . My newsletter is free! And comes out once a month or once every two months or so.

Otherwise... have some social media links if you want updates and whatever the hell else I am talking about.

Absolutely!
Well, actually. I have this headcanon where Charlie decides he wants to ask, but then, being Charlie, gets incredibly anxious about it. Anxious to the point where he stops talking and starts second guessing himself, which in turn makes Will nervous that something is wrong with Charlie. And meanwhile, yup, Charlie needs surgery again, and they say recovery time will be faster, but he remembers the pain and helplessness the first time around and he doesn't want to put Will through that....
Of course Will knows something is happening. But Charlie keeping things from him piss him off (and make him insecure) aaaaand basically I've imagined this scenario about the asking, yet I've never actually imagined their wedding. Charlie would not like fuss. I don't know that Will would either. But definitely they would need some sort of reception, even if it was only a dinner at their house.
Charlie would want Will to have the legal protection and would really, truly enjoy having a ring on his finger. And Will, oh my god, Will would love a chance to make every subject about his *husband*. And I think he would enjoy it because he knows every time he does, Charlie feels a little more secure and safe and happy. Thank you for this question. Sometimes I need to think about those two failboats so I can smile. (less)

But no... not right this second. I *was* going to do the thing hinted at in Clematis next, but I'm kind of maybe leaning toward another book of shorts. Maybe. It's still formulating. In the meantime, I'll have other stuff. Hopefully the thing I've been calling Space Gays should be out this summer. And a little m/m/m thing before then. :)(less)

Hey, everyone!

Things are, well, not great here in America at the moment. Obviously. Things are about to get very tough, or tougher, for a lot of us. It sucks. It sucks a lot. But that doesn't mean there is nothing to be done.

Major corporations-as in perhaps one named after a large river or ancient women warriors-are getting even less welcoming to creators like me. Meta (which owns FB, Threads, a Read more of this blog post »

When it first came out, I don't think most readers knew it was connected to the first story at all. So reading it on its own should be fine. While the Being(s) universe does feature cameos from other characters or little Easter eggs, the stories are See Full Answer

“Desperately hoping other gays know how gay you are without you saying anything is gay culture.”
R. Cooper, Jericho Candelario's Gay Debut

“Not want you?” His voice was rough. “Everett, I'd lay you down right now in this thin blanket of snow and take you.” Everett's eyes widened, but Alex's mind was racing, the images coming at him too quick for him to hold them back. “The cold air would touch you and then my mouth.” He moved back into Everett's space, and Everett groaned. “My hands. Naked, Everett. I could bite your long limbs and lick the grace from your words and shock the neighbors with what obscenities I'd drive from your lips.”
R. Cooper, A Wealth of Unsaid Words

“When he loved something, he loved it, and that was all there was to it. He also tended to express that devotion the way he thought, in random, fast, seemingly disconnected ways.”
R. Cooper, Checking Out Love
