Been a while
And I have been a busy, busy bee.
First things first, I have a website. www.riscooper.com
It's pretty simple, but it has links to everything and updates, and several of my free short stories are posted there.
I know! Look at me! Almost an organized professional. Almost. (I need a secretary. No--I need an Arthur.)
Secondly, audiobooks for Treasure for Treasure and His Mossy Boy and now available on Audible. Different narrators, but I hear that both of them made Martin adorable. (Zarrin, of course, is always adorable. btw everyone keeps asking me if Zarrin slept with Justin during his days of being set up by his parents. The answer is no. He would have been a bit young during that period. He does know Edgar though.)
Next, the next Being(s) story has been accepted and will be published by Dreamspinner at the end of the year. Sweet Clematis. Everyone's favorite brat fairy has been cursed to feel his feelings and find out what love is. Whatever will he do?!?!?!
AND THEN, shortly to be released, a short novella about a quiet man in a small town, and the baker he's in love with, and how it might be time for him to finally go after what he wants. And there's cake! Jericho Candelario's Gay Debut should be out in May.
Now I sleep. I'm a tired girl. :)

upcoming releases!
First things first--CLEMATIS!
Dreamspinner has announced the release date for Sweet Clematis, Book Nine in the Being(s) in Love series. November 27th, that pretty fairy is all yours, though you can pre-order now.
Cover reveal should be in September, but you can still put in an order without that.
Can a curse be a blessing?
Clematis works hard to embody every fairy stereotype. He can be a sulky prince or a submissive flirt, slutty and arrogant or silly and soft. He makes himself into whatever causes someone to want him. Combine that with beauty that’s incredible even for a fairy, and everyone wants him sooner or later… just not for long.
Well, everyone except the fairy Clematis secretly adores. But then, he’s never expected happily ever after, not when he’s spent years burying his emotions and making himself unlovable to push people away and protect his heart.
But his curse changes all that, and Clematis can no longer prevent his feelings from rising to the surface. He’s terrified that when his few friends see him for who he really is, they’ll abandon him, just like his parents did.
It’s hard to imagine friends who see past his act to the sweet person within, but maybe happiness has been in front of him the entire time, waiting for the real Clematis to break free and blossom.
Sweet Clematis
If you need something a little sooner than that, don't worry, Book Three of Familiar Spirits will be out at the start of October on both Smashwords and Amazon.
Nothing More Certain
Emery Elward returned to Trinity Creek with no intention of doing anything but repairing the farmhouse he grew up in, starting a business, and tending to the graveyard linked to his family’s property. He has no interest in renewing past friendships. But one old friend is determined to get Emery out from behind the cemetery’s iron gates.
Crafty, delicate Ezra Bell, who tailors his coal-black suits, knits gloves to warm his cold hands, and couldn’t make a plant grow if he tried isn’t someone Emery can ignore. Ezra was Emery’s best friend all through school, his first crush, and his first kiss. Then Ezra stepped back without ever acknowledging that anything happened between them and Emery left town. But now Ezra is free to tell Emery the secret that kept them apart—the town is steeped in magic, the old families are witches, and some of them, like Ezra, are a little bit more.
Amid gray skies, falling leaves, and the paper cut-outs of skeletons that decorate the town in anticipation of Halloween, Ezra is going to woo Emery back to land of the living. If anyone can convince Emery that he is wanted, that Ezra still loves him, and that magic is real, it’s Ezra. Emery may be stubborn, but he is about to discover that nothing is more certain than Ezra.
!!!!!!
And now, I'm off to work on the next thing. *whew*

Sweet Clematis stuff
Official Promo Post reminder that Sweet Clematis will be released November 27!!! The long-awaited (seriously, it's been a year) story of everyone's favorite heartbreaker dealing with the fairy curse Tulip leveled him with.
Available in all the usual places, Dreamspinner Press, Amazon, Barnes & Noble online.
Also, for anyone interested, I have a small interview in the Happily Ever After section of USA Today, due out the 28th! (Weird. I have no idea if I answered okay. But I tried my best!)
And then I will also be sharing a post on the Dreamreaders of Dreamspinner group on Facebook on Thursday, November 29th! (busy week, let me tell you. All this socializing! I will need a nap!) I will be sharing my "Favorite Five" and maybe talking about Clematis a bit. Feel free to comment or just lurk. <3
And now, because I want people to take care of themselves, here are the content tags for Sweet Clematis. These are going to look dark, but people tell me this book has one of the happiest endings of anything I've done. So. There is that.
(Tags should be hidden under spoiler tags. But that sometimes doesn't work for whatever reason. So if you don't want to see, don't read beyond this point.)
<spoiler>Depression
Dissociation
Casual, anonymous sex
Dubious consent (referenced)
Sex as a coping mechanism
Sexual abuse (referenced but not shown)
Sexual abuse of a minor (implied)
The presence of hate groups
Child abuse through neglect (referenced)
Public sex
Hostile work environment
Mistreatment by police/authorities
Light dom/sub feels</spoiler>
There. Hopefully that helps!
That's enough promo for now. Back to writing.

Being(s) in Love
The re-release! (I think that in the Mel Brooks voice from Spaceballs, every time.)
After almost a year out of print, the Beings of Los Cerros, Madera, and Everlasting are on their way back!!!
Some Kind of Magic is first, with A Boy and His Dragon close behind. Because someone commented (correctly) that SKoM is tonally much different from the others, and I want newbies to have a better idea of the rest of the books. But the others will not be long after. Everybody will be making an appearance with shiny new covers.
I will be re-releasing them as ebooks only, at first, to have them all out before I publish a new Beings collection to reward everyone who has been so patient as I dealt with publishers and everything.
That's right. You heard me. New Beings content at last! (Well, new-ish... well... you'll see). Just a little something while I finally get back to writing the next big beings novel and other little projects.
The audiobooks should stay up, although there might be a few hitches as they get new covers and I learn to deal with ACX.
The second edition Beings will be available in paperback as well, just not right away. (I will work on that once I have my current project wrapped up).
The French translated Beings series Bestiaire amoureux will stay available as well, with newer titles on the way.
The title of the new Beings book, by the way, for anyone looking for a hint, is The Tales of Two Seers. hmmmmm
And now, I am off to write, if I can. But before I go, one last reminder that you can always check for updates on my website or subscribe to my newsletter. (Link on the site)

The Tales of Two Seers
As the re-release of the Beings stories reaches the end, a small new Beings thing to tide everyone over while I work on new stuff. (Which... might be slow going. I have it mostly ready to start, but the world is what it is right now, and my ability to focus has been shot to hell. A lot of authors are in this situation, so please be patient with us.)
Still, I am very pleased to finally have all the original Beings stories back out or due out in the next few weeks. His Mossy Boy and Sweet Clematis are May releases, and then, right at the start of June, the brand-spanking new title, The Tales of Two Seers will be released!!
The Tales of Two Seers is another anthology, but different in tone than the Firebird. It's, um, sort of a book of fairy tales.
And technically, it is the tenth book I have written for the Beings Verse but it is NOT Book Ten. Why? Because most of it does not even take place within the Beings Verse... though it might be considered a commentary on it. Hmm that sounds too mysterious. lol. Just know it's not Book Ten. That's the only important thing to know right now. It was a mostly unplanned, fun little side project while I tried to get my brain back in working order after frying it writing Taji. :)
The Tales of Two Seers
A Being(s) in Love Anthology
Very little is known about seers—those individuals, both human and being, with the power to know both what could have been and what is yet to come. Seers prefer it that way. Some of them run from their visions. Others call themselves artists or authors instead of oracles. But even in the most seemingly innocent of their creations, the truth will out, and lessons will be learned.
Two storytellers of different eras and vastly different temperaments weave fantastic tales of magic and romance for their enthralled audiences: A young prince avoids his betrothed and the curse that binds them. A witch uses his magic to help the man he loves court someone else. A warrior betrayed by his lord finds himself in the company of a mysterious stranger. A half-fae is doomed to be sent to the Faery Court unless he can find someone to love him. A lonely outcast finds himself drawn to a forbidden forest. A bookseller at a masked ball wonders if he should pursue a handsome prince. A dragon attempts to woo a beast. A shy servant is given one night to reach for what he wants. Fairy tales that reveal more about the tellers, and their audiences, than they might want.
Being(s) in Love:
Magical creatures known as beings emerged from hiding amid the destruction of the First World War. Since then they’ve lived on the margins of the human world as misunderstood objects of fear and desire. Some are beautiful, others fearsome and powerful. Yet for all their magic and strength, they are as vulnerable as anyone when it comes to matters of the heart.
Available through Smashwords and Amazon
JUNE 2!!!
(Love that you guys are willing to put up with me being sort of experimental with this stuff. Seriously, thank you.)

Fall update!
We are still in the middle of what we call Fire Season here in California, but it's Autumn to many of you, just the time for a witchy boys update. And, frankly, time for something calming to escape into for a while, if you can.
For that reason, as a small, nice thing, I worked with Findaway Voices (and my helpful and wonderful narrator Joshua Macrae) to release an audiobook of A Little Familiar.
It will be distributed throughout many platforms, including Chirp and Audible. I'd give you an exact release date, but none of those services do that. The best I can tell you is that it will be out sometime this month!! Bartleby! Piotr!! Yearning over pumpkin carvings and spells and cider!!!
Hopefully, some of you get to listen to it in the rain. Talk about mood!!
In other news, the re-release of Play It Again, Charlie is finally happening. I am a little embarrassed by this story now--not for Charlie or Will themselves, just for my earlier writing. But ah well. It is out, with a new cover and a small epilogue, on November 2, in ebook and paperback.
The Beings paperbacks are ready to go as well, as soon as I have a few moments to sit down and fuss with them all. I will have them out likely before December, but this month, I might get distracted by whatever short story I do (if I decide to) for my birthday. I like to do a small thing for my bday each year if I can (if I can destress enough this year. ugh). We shall see!
I hope everyone is well, and getting some moments of calm and happiness in a hellish year. Stay strong! <3<3<3

New stuff at last!
Hello hello!
Some health stuff (illness and some persistent brain fog) and life stuff prevented me from getting the writing done that I had hoped to do at the start of the year, but I finally, hopefully, am getting back to feeling like a person, and some writing/work has been done! I am very excited!!
A quick thank you (again) to everyone who participated in the charity auction I recently ran. (For updates and news like that, you can always check my site riscooper.com or subscribe to my newsletter. Don't worry, I do not inundate you with letters. I do maybe one a month, if that.) The last of the 'won' items will go out next week. Exciting! Check your mailboxes!
Okay, on to STUFF.
A Suitable Consort (For the King and His Husband) will be available on paperback! Basically as soon as I check over the Proof, which arrived today!
As for new stuff, how about a Being(s) novella? What if it was f/f and historical, and, as if the way with some Beings work, barely about magic but with one or two subtle Easter Eggs for later stories? What if I was establishing a bit more lore, but it had ladies being cute and nervous and perhaps a little bitey? ??? What if???
Something Bright
Former tomboy Batch wonders about who she is, what her place is and where it might be. Olivia Hooper tells her fantastic stories about true love, destiny, and the almost magical town where she grew up—implying Batch is, or could be, a part of all of those things, and there might be a place for Batch if Batch could only dare to imagine it.
Featuring an old-timey butch and her mate--er--the tomboy longing for softness that the butch adores. Also a grumpy old man and some found family feels.
It will be on ebook and in paperback and ~possibly~ on audiobook eventually.
Something Bright April 19th!
And then I am off to finish Being(s) in Love #10, Forget-Me-Not. !!! Hopefully out this summer!
TTFN,
R. Cooper

Forget Me Not (Being(s) in Love Book Ten)
A release date at last for this very long project! August 31st! Prepare to (maybe) hurt a little bit and suffer through someone rather heroic being accidentally glorious.
(Um, also please note the summary for this book, and the content tags I put it on the copyright info page. Those should be visible on all reading samples.)
Forget Me Not
Detective Ray Branigan protects his chosen city of Los Cerros. Whatever feelings he has on how he is treated as a werewolf in a police department of mostly humans, Ray keeps to himself for the sake of being what he is supposed to be and doing what he thinks he is supposed to do.
…Until he wakes up in an alley with a headache, magic tingling in his nose, and no memory of the half-fairy in front of him claiming to be his mate. Ray does not have a mate, yet his instincts tell him this is right—and that something else is very wrong.
Werewolves who lose their mates get self-destructive or violent. But a miscalculation in the spell used against him has temporarily spared Ray that fate. While he still can, he has to find who did this to him, and why, and try not to get too distracted by the brilliant half-fairy who smells like home.
Callalily “Cal” Parker is beautiful, clever—and far too careful when discussing their past. Fairies are supposed to speak the truth, but maybe Cal is right to hide it from Ray, since the pack Ray has fought so hard to believe in, the police, seem to have abandoned him, and, his instincts whisper, cannot be trusted now, which means that maybe Ray shouldn’t be trusted either.
But the spell is still at work, weakening even a werewolf’s strength. When Ray can no longer fight off the magic, will he become the monster so many think he is, or the hero that his mate insists he must be—that he wants to be, to save himself, and help his city, and make his Callalily proud?
August 31st!
Forget Me Not
Right now, it's up on Amazon and Smashwords, but other retailers will follow soon.
I've talked about this one a bit in my newsletter and on my Tumblr and Patreon, but you do not have to have read Some Kind of Magic to read this one, but it might add something. Which is why SKoM will be 99 cents all through August.
For info on anything else, you can always sign up for my newsletter or just check out my site (www.riscooper.com) --there is a link to the sign up form for the newsletter on the homepage of the site.
