USA Today and NY Times bestselling author Candice Gilmer leads a dangerous double life as a mommy and a writer. In between boo-boo healing and fixing broken toys, she writes stories usually to the tune of children's television shows.

Growing up in the Midwest, Candice stays close to her family, especially the ones with basements when the tornadoes come around.

All in all, she stays very busy, but really, she wouldn't have it any other way.

Well, maybe a little less children's television.

Many times the answer comes to me when my brain isn't stressing over it.

Or, in some cases, I'll go work on another project, because I always have a couple of things going on at once. (less)

If I stayed in my pj's, I'd wind up in bed, watching Netflix all day long. :)

I think the best thing is probably being able to adjust my hours. Writing is not my only job, I also work as a hairdresser. As a result, my writing time is flexed around my hairdressing hours and taking care of my kids, which means I may be writing over coffee in the morning, or I'm writing after everyone goes to bed, it just depends on the day.

As long as I get writing done every day, I'm good. I don't care when I get it done, just that I do it.(less)

Rocket to the Stars

Ever feel like someone strapped you to the back of a rocket and said “hold on,” without any seatbelt or warning?

That’s how I’m feeling right now. The thunder of the engine shakes me in my seat as I’m trying to get my bearings, but before I can do that, I’m off.

Hit hard and jettisoning to the stratosphere.

I can’t think of a better metaphor for the last few weeks as I start working on my author

“Sure you are," Jack replied. He sashayed up next to me, and yes, it was a sashay, he was far too damn smug for his good looks. Damn me for getting all girly inside at the sight of him coming over to rescue my damsel in distress.

Then he became the ultimate man.

He picked up the flat spare, looked at it, and said "Yep, it's flat."

"What are you, a rocket scientist in your spare time?"

"Only on the weekends.”
Candice Gilmer, Fantasy Girl

“Seriously, isn’t there enough holiday cheer around here? You all don’t have to invade my office.” I glared at my coworkers, decked out in their fancy Christmas finery, complete with Santa hats and jingly socks.

I should have been expecting this—it was a week before Christmas. -- Erica”

“Commandment #1: Believe in yourself. Commandment #2: Get over yourself.”
Kristan Higgins

“Family gatherings were... um, let's see, what's the word I'm looking for?... Hell. They were hell. Being the middle child, I served and referee and confidante, hostess and martyr. Did I feel we should get together once in a while? Sure. Did I want my family all together? Theoretically, yes. In reality, dear God, no.”
Kristan Higgins, All I Ever Wanted

“You asked why I couldn't forgive you," Nick said, very quietly, and I jumped a little. "It was because you were the love of my life, Harper. And you didn't want to be. That's hard to let go.”
Kristan Higgins, My One and Only
