Don't Miss Christmas

Don't miss this Christmas by falling asleep.

I know the Queen is boring but at least there's nothing to bleep.

Bad language has its place I guess in films and on the screen,

But with the speech from the Palace at least you know it is clean!

Don't miss this Christmas by getting drunk then falling down.

There are enough out there already who play the fool and clown around.

Pubs are great and wine bars too certainly have their place,

But you really are an embarrassment with blood all over your face.

Don't miss this Christmas by staying out too late the night before.

Remember loved ones who might need your help. Don't be a selfish bore!

Having fun and laughter is what you should share,

With those you want to be with and you know who really care.

Don't miss this Christmas by things that you could circumvent

And never eat the last Brussel sprout without someone's consent!

Have a Great Christmas and share a laugh or three

Surrounded by those who love you and give their love for free.

Merry Christmas to you all.

The Deva Station And Kat Astrophe With a Chance Goneabegging

By Daniel Kemp

A Short Comical Story Told In Two Parts

A Taster—

Any interpretation of this short story is done entirely at your own risk.

I have incorporated English names into this compact chronicle to avoid disappointing those who find Russian a difficult language to pronounce.

* * *

A Wild Winter’s Mid-Morning In The Reminski District, Moscow, Russia

His initial feeling of gushing pride at being selected by the captain of detectives from the final year of cadet school to accompany him to a murder scene was quickly forgotten as the ground beneath his feet both crunched in agony and screamed in pain, as by measured stride followed by measured stride, the distance between the warmth of an official car and the body of an untidily dressed man widened until at last the Police Lieutenant Colonel’s car was reached. A window of the automobile was lowered, but no invitation to share the warmth within was extended to the new recruit. Motionless he stood, unable to curb the chilling frost that rose through his leather-soled shoes and climbed his legs like Superman on steroids, soon eating at the flesh beneath his lightweight college garments. In increasing discomfort, he began his account of the scene he had just walked from.

The Resolve of Winter

The Resolve of Winter

The harshness of winter is carried lightly on a breeze
Bending blackened branches to wave goodbye to its leaves.
Cold are the nights as the sun disappears from the day
And eerie is the silence when the stars come out to play.

Without pity is that winter showering misery and pain in its wake.
Watching on and smiling at the hearts and backs it does break.
But compassion comes with Christmas, but does it last beyond a day,
Or is it just like winter’s sympathy; with no resolve to really stay?

A Tear In Time

A second ticked by and not a lot had occurred,
The minute hand moved, and a voice was heard.

It spoke softly of love with pity and grace,
It promised to change this earth into a far different place.

But soon the hour passed and faith was held back.
Disbelief had entered and begun its attack.

Time travelled on and soon envy controlled all,
Until the closing of a day, and a tear it did fall.

It flows today as a sacrifice for sin,
Offering a way out; of the hell we are in.

At Christmas, that tear flows for all to embrace
Not just Christians, but the whole human race.
