The Simple Truth
What call you love?
What call you life?
What is it you do that makes you-you?
Tell me your truth.
Tell me your lie.
But bring love to my life then let me die.

Do You See
Death comes to those who are right and those who are wrong.
Death is a gift for the weak and the strong.
Death has no quarrel over religion or skin.
Death takes the righteous and those that do sin.
Death has no friends but some seek its hand
Death has no feeling, but does understand……
That the past has been lived but now it has died.
The future’s not certain and that makes some terrified.
The present is all we’ve got and it’s ours to be used,
But life created death and death is not confused.

Walking On Graves
Darkness releases the shadows where it’s safe to hide
The battle’s been fought, all thoughts have died.
Mindful of steps that beckon beyond
The graves with no voices that cannot respond.
Pain surrounds and walks close at hand.
Only in agonising madness is it safe to stand.
Escape is fiction, there’s nowhere to abscond
Except to graves with no voices that can respond.
Once there was beauty where now ugliness stands
Time was a treasure that was ripped from the hands.
Imagination is suffocated by the billowing fronds
That grow on the graves where nobody responds.
Warriors were warriors on one frightful day,
When life came along and swept them away.
Now they’re dead and the life they’re beyond
As they rest in their graves and never respond.
Dreams always vanish as the guns are fired
And the ground swallows the bodies of those expired.
Graves don’t always carry the names of the dead.
But we all walk on bodies wherever we tread.

Atone
To dare. To care.
To wonder what took one there.
One kiss. To reminisce.
To wonder about that bliss.
To leave. To grieve
To wonder what to believe.
To be alone with all that’s known.
To wonder if one could atone?

A Tale Of Two Hearts
I smiled but she never smiled with me.
I laughed but only saw her tear.
I spoke but she never heard what I was saying.
I felt pain from the crushing sense of fear.
She asked if I was leaving?
I replied—what else could I do?
She said she never meant to do it.
I replied—Is there anything you’ve said that was true?
We made peace and joined together.
We were one for a year or more.
But the barrier grew stronger and wider.
Until at last neither of us was sure.
Death saw a permanent separation.
Leaving my conscience to wonder why.
Did life ever hold an answer,
Or was love always destined to die?

The Lovers
With a heart that was open but eyes that were closed,
She found a safe place and within she dozed.
In her sleep, she saw a star way up high
And she listened as it sang a soulful lullaby.
“I feel your sobbing heart through the soles of my feet,
But I pray the day is prolonged until finally, we meet.
Your body I caress through my spirit and soul,
But no wish nor truth can make my own body whole.”
Deeper she slept, but the dream didn’t fade,
No matter how much she tried, in her heart it still laid.
Trying to forget, praying for release
She sang in silence in search of that peace.
“I feel your heart and I feel your pain,
I imagined that at my side you’d always remain.
But death took you away and left me here,
With the doubts that surround me, filling me with fear.”
The star returned, now lower in the sky,
A tear she saw as it began to cry.
She wiped that tear with a lock of her hair,
Placed it in her heart and left it there.
The tear was returned when his hand touched her own,
As she made her way skyward no longer alone.
The lovers became one when her life slipped away,
Now in heaven, together, the lovers now lay!

A Question
The eyes were open and the ears could hear,
But no one could figure it out.
But when the eyes were shut and the ears were closed,
No one had any doubt.
Secrets and lies we must hide from view
That’s the way life teaches us to be.
But if time stood still when the truth was told
Then we may have found the key
What if time never moved, but you did move
Circling the truth and the lies?
Could that become your moment of truth
Or would the truth be what you despise?
Heaven, Hell, are they places to go,
Or are they both where we have been?
What if you visited both with your eyes firmly closed,
And it’s only the present that is ever seen?
Who told the lies? Who could discover any truth
If the senses were never used?
No one knows the real purpose of life,
As the truth is always abused.

Questions
Where cast you love when love has died,
When the heart stops racing and there’s nothing inside?
Where goes passion, exciting and heaven-sent?
Where goes its taste, its fragrance, and its scent?
Can love once lived be lived once more?
Could absorbed by love be life’s cure?
If death be an end from which there’s no defence,
Was love created as death’s recompense?

A Life
In the silence of the dreams is where my devil lives
And in no memories in my mind do I find room to forgive
The demands that were made before a conscience was born
Leaving lives that were buried and loves to mourn.

No Time For War
No Time For War
In the silence in the shadows
In the deepest grave that’s ever been,
Lives the voice of all reason
In the world no-one’s seen.
Memories will be rewritten with no pain left inside.
Tears will be forgotten. There was no time when you cried.
In the valleys deep and darkened
In the nightmares, in the screams
Lives the Devil that needs fighting
Fill those shadows with your dreams.
Memories will be rewritten with no pain left inside.
Tears will be forgotten. There was no time when you cried.
From the dawning of the sunrise
To the dwindling dusk of night
Think not of inky skies above you
Fill those shadows with your light.
Memories will be rewritten with no pain left inside.
Tears will be forgotten. There was no time when you cried.
In the world that’s been constructed
In a life you can claim
There’s no darkness of the memories
There’s no memories of the shame.
Memories will be rewritten with no pain left inside.
Tears will be forgotten. There was no time when you cried.
Persecution is forbidden
Hypocrisy is no more
Love is unchanging
In the dream you’ll be living there’s no time for a bloody war.
