A Question
The eyes were open and the ears could hear,
But no one could figure it out.
But when the eyes were shut and the ears were closed,
No one had any doubt.
Secrets and lies we must hide from view
That’s the way life teaches us to be.
But if time stood still when the truth was told
Then we may have found the key
What if time never moved, but you did move
Circling the truth and the lies?
Could that become your moment of truth
Or would the truth be what you despise?
Heaven, Hell, are they places to go,
Or are they both where we have been?
What if you visited both with your eyes firmly closed,
And it’s only the present that is ever seen?
Who told the lies? Who could discover any truth
If the senses were never used?
No one knows the real purpose of life,
As the truth is always abused.

Us?
Who have we accused a million times
Of pasteurising those discordant minds
As humans were forced between the lines
That designates the choice assigned.
Beware that you do conform
To symbols that signify your norm
Shown by the clothes that are worn
For the duties of which you’re asked to perform.
Comply they say or see you dead
To the communist kiss of crimson red
But hide you not under democracy’s bed
Forgetting who fought for freedom and bled.
Where I ask did freedom go
That was enjoyed by many not so long ago?
Was it those keeping silent and hiding low
Who aimed that fatal killing blow?
As the milksop averts your sight
Inward look, not feast on a fight.
Take wing as an aid on your flight
As we bow in servitude to the might.
A million curses I do say
As a juggernaut passes over the ground we lay
Besides those that stood in freedoms way
When a choice has death as the label to pay!

Is To Wish To Be Wrong?
To not live alone and be apart
To welcome love and share a heart
To take a blow without complaint
To offer peace without constraint.
To be pure when morals scream
To only see the beauty in all you dream
To show compassion to those in need
To be content with no thought of greed.
To wish for nothing and ask for less
To live a life without duress
To offer silence in a raging storm
To be yourself and not conform.
To accept the pitfalls along your path
To smile and always be willing to laugh
To see the good where others see bad
To be happy and never be sad.
To be complete with love to spare
To live in colour where nothing’s bare
To encourage and abide
To be humble and not full of pride.
To wish that fear could always abate
To offer friendship and speak no hate
To stand straight and strong beside the weak
To give the innocent a chance to speak.
Perhaps these words come from misty-eyes
And most of the things have been tried
But sentiment or not I know this much is true
My wishes for a future are better than that I now view.

Endless
by Daniel Kemp
Endless
Give me something of what I need
Give me a reason to stay awake
Give me the love that I gave to you
Give me rage till my body does ache
Show me the scars and tell me why
Show me the memory of that pain
Show me the love that you gave
Show me the feeling when that man was slain
Ask me if it’s true what I have told you
Ask me how many times I told you a lie
Ask me if I knew the difference
Ask me if what I told you I would now deny
Tell me why you are so angry
Tell me why you never believed
Tell me why you never left him
Tell me why you were so easily deceived
When did you lose your faith
When did you first feel lost
When did you first feel alone
When did you draw a line at the cost
Why was it we met too late
Why was it we could never be
Why was it we were left behind
Why was it you could never see?

A Helicopter Ride
A Helicopter Ride
I hitched a ride on a helicopter to the moon and back
I looked at the earth and the earth was flat.
I asked a passing Martian if she knew the way,
She said, “sure man, sure. If I can play.”
We went to Saturn and we stole a ring.
We met Bob Dylan and we began to sing.
‘Take me high as a kite, hide the smoke underneath.
Ride the lacquered carriage wearing the bridal wreath.’
The vicar said the words and the truth was told,
An artist has a duty to stay warm, not cold.
A fire reached the moon and we fell to the ground.
Belief caved in with an almighty sound.
Breathing was a problem as the air smelled bad
There were tears in the sky because God was sad.
An albatross flew past, I couldn’t see where it went.
I pulled the elastic band and began the descent.
Paradise was open and a hand popped out,
A finger pointed the way but a sign said—Drought!
Happiness has no punishment, laughter has no gain.
Lies finished the partnership, but honesty ended the pain.
