Learn to discern the difference between your inner editor who has extremely high standards, and your inner mean girl. That mean girl is a practiced mimic. But the inner critic who has extremely high standards knows when your writing is good, and when it needs work. She will tell you when something is great. The mean girl never will. (less)

As a memoir, you are right, it is my story, but as you will find toward the end, there is great healing to be found on the other side of your pain.
I wish you the best of luck, and congratulations on your daughter's wedding.

“I want to meet my Shadow and learn from it. I want to unbury ad acknowledge the parts of me that are dark, and liberate the parts of me that are so light they frighten me.”
Rebecca Winn, One Hundred Daffodils: Finding Beauty, Grace, and Meaning When Things Fall Apart

“I was obscuring my own light. I had been doing it for years. I had done it thinking I was doing what was best for my family, but in making the choice again and again to hide my light, I had reduced myself to someone who was fearful and dependent. In doing what I thought would make me safe, I had, in fact, made myself vulnerable. Deeply, frighteningly vulnerable.”
Rebecca Winn, One Hundred Daffodils: Finding Beauty, Grace, and Meaning When Things Fall Apart

“I am drawn to the void. I want to see what's beyond my parameters. I want to know what wisdom is to be found in the empty space into which I feel called to grow.”
Rebecca Winn, One Hundred Daffodils: Finding Beauty, Grace, and Meaning When Things Fall Apart

“When crisis strips away our masks and guides us inside to our authentic selves, the beauty it reveals can be staggering. When we are unmasked, we are vibrant, we are radiant. When we are wholly ourselves, it is holy.”
