Excerpt from Justine’s review:

“At its heart, it’s a cautionary tale of the ugliness and indecency jealousy brings upon the world, and how acting on such feelings must be avoided at all costs. The narrative focuses on the concept that no matter how deep one tucks away the pains of the past, there’s truly no escape, but instead that crippling trauma should be utilized to learn and grow. Part fantasy, part surrealism, part horror, this story is an artistic, yet terrifying journey to exhume the truth, brimming with revelations every step of the way.”

Ebook Launch Today (May 19) | The Jealousy of Jalice

My book has officially been unleashed! As of today, the ebook version of THE JEALOUSY OF JALICE has been released and is now available for immediate purchase on Amazon. It is also on Kindle Unlimited.

Link to Amazon page (click here)

If you haven't already secured your copy, go do so now and join in on the book launch hype! Or if you're more of a print copy kind of reader, the paperback/hardback are available for preorder at Indiebound, Barnes and Noble, and Amazon (slated to release Sept 2020)

TJOJ is an adult dark fantasy that explores themes of betrayal and atonement, and follows a female cast of anti-heroines that include a defect assassin, a stubborn chieftess, and a royal decoy.

The plot revolves around two women that enact a scheme to overthrow a tyrant chief by first kidnapping his wife. Annilasia whisks Jalice off into a forest infested with beasts and demonic entities, while Delilee, remains behind to spy on the chief. Yet a dangerous event from Jalice’s past threatens to undo their schemes.

I will be taking part in a virtual book fest event! Some lovely booktubers and bloggers have put together what has been deemed the Social Distance Book Fest, taking place on April 25th.

All throughout the day, various panels will host newly published or soon-to-be published authors, as a way to boost their book launches that have been affected by the recent isolation and social-distancing.

I am humbled and honored to announce that I will be featured on one of these panels! See below for details.

Assassins, Intrigue & Secrets: Debuts in Fantasy Panel
Description: Assassinations, political intrigue, dark secrets, magical competition, and fearless women: these books truly have it all! Hear from five 2020 debut fantasy authors about their exciting books, the debut experience, and writing on the dark side.
Time: 8:00pm EST (APRIL 25)
Host: Bethany from Beautifully Bookish Bethany (YOUTUBE CHANNEL)

Participants:

Kirkus Reviews - The Jealousy of Jalice

My third editorial review is in! Follow the link to read the full article.

Kirkus Reviews Article - Click Here

Editorial Review Snippet from the Article:

"Bailey’s debut dark-fantasy novel offers a tale of old grudges, forbidden magic, and gruesome monsters...

The book’s scenes of action and eldritch horror are especially well handled, but its greatest strength is Bailey’s commitment to developing the nuanced cast.

A suspenseful, intriguing, and highly original fantasy tale from a promising new author." -- Kirkus Reviews

Editorial Review Snippet from the Article:

"A riveting and brilliantly penned novel. This female-led fantasy adventure features visceral descriptive language, an endlessly creative new world, uniquely relatable characters, and a fine balance of emotional intrigue and enrapturing action. The subtle weaving of magic and fantastic cultures through these pages create a rich and immersive world, and the pitfalls and enemies the pair encounter are each more mind-bending than the last. This is an electric debut, and newborn fans of Jesse Nolan Bailey will eagerly await the sequel, as The Jealousy of Jalice is an imaginative and impressive start to a new fantasy series." BookViral Review - The Jealousy of Jalice

My first editorial review is in! With BookViral's permission, I've pasted the full review below, but the link for the article is also listed.

Book Viral Review Article - Click Here

The BookViral Review: Genre – Dark Fantasy Fiction

With slick original plotting and high octane action, there’s much to keep the most ardent of fantasy fans on tenterhooks with Bailey’s The Jealousy Of Jalice.

Imaginative world building is the backbone of great fantasy and here he proves himself quite adept at delivering the goods. Slipping between realms with an amorphous logic, where things that are both familiar and strange, connect the physical and intangible realms. It’s an inventive approach as the age-old conflict between the forces of light and dark come in to focus and Bailey does well to avoid the cumbersome descriptions that have become all too common in fantasy fiction.

He certainly has an impressive eye for detail, but he never shares information with the reader without purpose – instead, he gives us just enough of his settings to reassure us that he has considered every facet of them. And it’s the same with his characters. Jalice, Annilasia and Delilee are particularly well rendered with compelling backstories whilst Hydrim and the demonic Dokojins, Dardajah and Inzerious are up there with the darkest of fantasy characters.

With hawkish prose, there isn’t a page that doesn’t enthrall whilst a shocking twist in the final chapters will leave readers eager for the next release in Bailey’s series. Highly recommended to discerning fans of fantasy fiction with a darker edge, The Jealousy Of Jalice proves a genuine page-turner and must-read.
