First is final proofing of my next novel, a contemporary women's fiction with a seasoned heroine who is an Austen geek - "Love & Stones." It will launch around June 1. Second project is research and writing first draft of the next book in my Austenesque grouping of stories about "Mothers, Sisters, Friends" of characters in Austen's novels. It is the story of Mrs. Dashwood from "Sense & Sensibility." More projects (fiction and nonfiction) are also in the works — read about them on my website at www.salliannehines.com.(less)

I always felt there was more to her than we got to see in the book or the films. My next book, "Love & Stones," was my first experience in writing fiction and I was inspired by a real event in my life (involving polo) that I wished had turned out differently, so I used that as the beginning and away I went with it. I don't plan my fiction books, other than having a general idea of how I want them to end. I do more structured planning for nonfiction.(less)
