My new thriller!
I'm super excited to announce that the advanced reader copy of my new psychological thriller, THE LITTLE GIRL WITH A SECRET, is now available via BookSirens.
ARCs are limited so if you'd like a copy, head over to my Instagram bio link at @cgtwiles. You can also click here.
About the book:
Only she knows what happened.
The betrayal…
After finding her fiancé and best friend in bed together, Syra Fragos flees heartbreak for the lush farmland and unplugged serenity of Amish Country in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
There, she stays in a farmette with no electricity or Wifi. But there is one perk: handsome caretaker Jonas Martin. A decade ago, he was banned from the Amish after refusing, without explanation, to marry his pregnant teen girlfriend, Lydia.
The accident…
When Lydia is tragically killed in a buggy accident
while riding with her and Jonas’ young daughter, Jonas returns home to Amish Country. Is it to make amends to his daughter? Or does he have a darker motivation…?
The letters…
When Syra finds a box of letters from Lydia to Jonas buried under the porch, she can’t help but dive into them. Against her better judgment, she’s falling for Jonas and wants to know what kind of man he really is. Why did he abandon Lydia and their daughter so long ago? Did he have anything to do with Lydia’s buggy accident?
The secret…
Jonas confesses the real reason he’s returned. He and his sister suspect that Jonas’ daughter is the only one who knows a terrible secret about their mother. A secret so explosive that when the little girl heard it, she stopped speaking…
Now if only Syra can get the girl to reveal it… but does she really want to hear it?

Ableism in Goodreads Giveaways
Okay, I'm going to go there. I'm going to use the term "ableism" even though to be quite honest I'm not even entirely certain what it means—I'm Gen-X and this term only began to snake into my consciousness within the past few years. But I'm fairly certain it means not taking into account the many people who may not have the physical abilities that the majority do.
For me, that's eyesight. Which sucks given I'm a writer, journalist, intrepid reader, and spend much of my life in front of a computer.
About five years ago, my never-great eyesight suddenly went blurry in one eye. I had developed a macular hole (not macular degeneration). It came out of nowhere and was simply bad luck. (It's not genetic.) I've had two operations on the eye, one to repair the hole, and thank goodness, it is repaired, but the vision in that eye is shot.
This means I can no longer read paper books. I have to read everything on my Kindle and enlarge the font to one of its highest settings.
So when I get notifications for Goodreads giveaways and usually ALL of the books are print books, it's a bummer! I can't read them!
Please, publishers and authors, think about us vision-impaired people and add some digital books to your giveaways. Which is a lot cheaper too!
Thanks!!

The Perfect Face New Thriller
My new thriller,The Perfect Face , drops tomorrow, June 15!
A reporter for Wealthy magazine, Maddie Ribeiro, heads to a gorgeous Greek island for her summer vacation. There, she plans to eat wonderful Greek food, take delicious swims in the crystal-clear Aegean, and spend quality time with her pal Athena.
But soon she meets a beautiful 12-year-old girl and her mother. Catching them in several lies, Maddie begins to suspect the girl is being trafficked to a nearby private island, one owned by eccentric and reclusive billionaire Dexter Hunt.
But looks can be deceiving and as Maddie unravels the secrets of the billionaire next door, she finds they are stranger than she ever imagined.
Early reviews are saying the twist is one you will never EVER see coming. I personally think clues are scattered throughout, but maybe that's me! It is unique, that's for sure, so if you prefer the drunk heroine watching her neighbors through binoculars trope, this ain't the one for you.
Out June 15!! The Perfect Face

My billionaire is based on Jeffrey Epstein and Elon Musk so it is interesting to see how much Musk is in the news lately!
I hope you enjoy my new thriller. This is NOT your typical psychological thriller, so be warned!
Happy reading!

Goodreads Policies
From my Instagram:
I shouldn't be surprised to find that again Goodreads has allowed a pile-on of an author, along with "reviews" that start off "I did not read this book but..." and then go on to trash the author, repeating whatever telephone-game style rumor or innuendo they've absorbed from the most likely culprit being Twitter.
Goodreads should be about readers reviewing books, not people reviewing the purity/morality/politics, etc of others. Authors aren't even in the position of complaining about it because then they are shouted down that they're not "being accountable" or "transparent" or allowing "honest reviews" blah blah blah.
I wanted to take all my books off GR in a small protest however I then found that this would greatly impact my ability to get to retailers and libraries or to market through Bookbubs or newsletters, all of whom take GR ratings and reviews into account as proof that your book is relevant.
I would URGE ARC sites, book sites, retailers to start considering places like BookBub and BingeBooks for ratings rather than Goodreads. Many of us would love to be done with GR but are hamstrung.
I also momentarily forgot my issues with GR and signed up for a giveaway. Because this requires paying GR, I will not be doing this again. Giveaways with only be done via my newsletter (link in bio).
I would urge publishers stop giving GR money until it can show it is a friend to authors not a foe.

My new short thriller
I'm super excited that my new short digital thriller, THE GHOST WIFE, is now available at multiple retailers, including Amazon, Kobo, Barnes and Noble, Scribd, and (soon) Apple Books.
I really wanted to do a Christmas-holiday-themed story but didn't have time for a full-length book, so here is my 8,500-word suspense tale, which should take about an hour to read. Perfect for the busy holiday season.
About The Ghost Wife:
All Tabitha wants for Christmas is for her family to accept reality.
And the reality is... she's dead.
Then, on Christmas Day, a man enters her house who can see and hear her. Is he an angel? God?
What he tells her is unlike anything she expected. And now she has a big decision to make.
A suspense-filled yet hopeful tale for the holidays. I hope you enjoy and let me know what you think! The Ghost Wife: A short tale of suspense

Brooklyn Gothic Finding New Readers
This month, my Gothic romantic thriller, BROOKLYN GOTHIC (formerly titled The Best Man on the Planet) has been my second-biggest seller, which is amazing considering I have no promotions running for it. It is also my oldest book, released in June 2020.
Brooklyn Gothic is heavily influenced by Jane Eyre, Rebecca, and other Gothic fiction. But it takes place in modern times, and has what would be considered the big twists of modern psychological thrillers.
If you are a fan of the Bronte sisters, Ruth Ware, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Daphne DuMaurier, Dorothy Eden, etc., this book should be right up your dark and twisty alley! Brooklyn Gothic

Pandemic in Storytelling
I knew when I started my new thriller, THE LITTLE GIRL IN THE WINDOW, I wanted to include the current pandemic in some way. By the time I began writing, I'd been living in the thick of it for a year and a half. At the very beginning of it, I was still writing my last thriller, THE LAST STAR STANDING, and just couldn't see my way to including the world's circumstances, though I multiple times considered how I could try to assimilate it into the story.
Now I was ready. In fact, there was no other way I could have written the story. It would have seemed extremely odd not to. Plus, it gave my characters the perfect excuse to flee the city and head to a town where a terrible past mistake haunts them both.
For those of you understandably thinking, "Oh god noooooo. I don't want to hear about the pandemic!" I like to think I did a good job of incorporating it as one might any setting or circumstances, as if the pandemic was an island, or a storm, or a university. It's in the background but also provides motivation and plot points, such as how my heroine, Romy, ends up with a dog.
So if you are wary about a book that incorporates the pandemic, I urge you to give my thriller a try.
The Little Girl in the Window is available on Amazon and other retailers Oct. 1.
