📖My favorite historical book got a re-edition.

📖My favorite historical book got a re-edition.
If you want to understand the history of today's Israel 🕍, this is a must-read.
It is a novel, but it captures all parts of the conflict's mentality, psychology, and essence.
I just learned that Colin Falconer had published a re-edition (in 2022) of my childhood favorite historical book.
🎗️I can still vividly remember how it hit me as a teenager to read this powerful story; it was my first encounter with the violence ⚔️ of Israel's history and my first encounter with the topic of the holocaust. There were more during my history studies, but this one remained with me.
And the book only got better with time.

First War Dogs: Slalom between mines, cigarette distribution, and scratch for joy

Imagine trench warfare. The general idea is that in the trenches, soldiers are crouched and pointing their guns at the enemy. But now, try to grasp the reality. They lived, drank, and ate in that trench. The trench stretched for several kilometers, and the army had to make difficult arrangements because its various components were far apart.

At the bottom of the trench, besides the mud, there was some other rubbish, from lead-poisoned water to excrement, and when it rained, the water brought the dead smell from above into the trench. And none of this could have been possible if it hadn't been for the dogs.

Inspirational Advent Calendar - Week 3

In the Czech Republic, we have a tradition of using advent calendars. We open a window and eat a piece of chocolate hidden inside every day, beginning on the first of December. On Christmas Day, there is a unique piece of chocolate.

This tradition comes from Lutheran Germany and can be found in many other European countries.

Traditional chocolate can be replaced by anything you think of, and I think it's a good idea to replace it with something that makes us think.

Advent is a time to stop and reflect, and yes, I know that most of you struggle with stress, shopping, and having too many family members in your household.

But words have power, and thus, I offer you a few powerful words for every day of this time of year.

Every Monday, An article will bring you a new load of inspiration.

16th December
I feel like no one ever told the truth to me
about growing up and what a trouble it would be.
Queen

17th December
Ours is essentially a tragic age, so we refuse to take it tragically.
D. H. Lawrence

18th December
Should we live and let live? Forget of forgive?
Iron Maiden

19th December
Thou shall not is soon forgotten. Once upon a time lasts forever.
Philip Pullman

20th December
Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration, the rest of us just get up and go to work.
Stephen King

21st December
People who sacrifice beauty for efficiency get what they deserve.
Tom Robbins

22nd December
Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.
Arthur Ashe

Have a lovely Christmas time and see you next week.
