I seem always to imagine California, where I live, when I write—and to zoom in on interpersonal relationships between people at every stage of life. I have kept journals (I still call them diaries) for nearly 30 years now, and I never get blocked simply writing down what happened this morning. When I have a hard time writing creatively, keeping a journal tides me over until a time when I feel more inspired.(less)
