S.C. (Shannon) Monson graduated from BYU-Idaho with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, which is completely beside the point.

In her youth, she wrote several short stories, including one about the Big Bad Wolf, three little pigs, and an intervening Batman—and one long story she should have ended, but didn’t. Among her siblings, she is famous as the Earthquake-On-A-Stool Yahoo Girl. (It’s a hair-raising tale.)

Badgerblood: Awakening is her first YA fantasy and the first of a series. Click the link for a preview: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asin...

Due to her parents’ love of adventure, S.C. is an American born abroad and raised in places like Turkey and Italy.

She currently resides on Earth. When she’s not writing, music-dallying,

Sometimes I'll google incidents in real life that are similar to events in my book and try to glean inspiration from them. Other times, I just keep trying to write or stare aimlessly off into space. The latter is far less effective.(less)

“The Near Side,” Imaginative New Comics Part 3

Have you ever wondered how it feels to rewrite too many drafts or encounter plot holes? Look no further, the visuals are below.

A sketch of a bare-chested pirate with a tattoo on his arm that reads

How I feel when I run into plot holes. 😬

A sketch of a woman's head with gray hair and big bulging eyes and glasses.

How I feel when I’ve rewritten too many drafts. 😳

Sketch of a smiling girl with brown, wavy hair, burgundy shirt, and yellow pants. There is a thought bubble beside her head that says

My inner self when I reach a writing milestone—all arms, bow legs, and hugs. 😊❤

“The walls on either side were lined with curtains. Folds of damson velvet spilled onto the white marble floor. Gold fringes looped along the curtain rods above them. High overhead, rich reddish-brown slats formed the ceiling. Elaborate carvings in the wood depicted strange scenes of badgers and borlan and men.”

“Don't dwell on your past - it's not where you're going”
KayLynn Flanders, Shielded

“Sometimes, when you are reading a book you are enjoying very much, you begin thinking so hard about the characters and the story that you might forget all about the author, even if he is in grave danger and would very much appreciate your help. The same thing can happen if you are looking at a photograph. You might think so hard about whatever is in the photograph that you forget all about the person behind the camera.”
Lemony Snicket, Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography

“Miss Vesper Holly has the digestive talents of a goat and the mind of a chess master. She is familiar with half a dozen languages and can swear fluently in all of them. She understands the use of a slide rule but prefers doing calculations in her head. She does not hesitate to risk life and limb- mine as well as her own. No doubt she has other qualities as yet undiscovered. I hope not.”
Lloyd Alexander, The Illyrian Adventure
