Hank Quense writes satirical fantasy and sci-fi.
Early in his writing career, he was strongly influenced by two authors: Douglas Adams and his Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Joseph Heller’s Catch-22. Happily, Hank has never quite recovered from those experiences.

I run a self-publishing and book marketing service, where I coach new and seasoned writers—whether you’re just polishing your first draft or sweating over your book’s launch. If you have questions about getting your book out into the world or making it actually sell, I’m always happy to share what I’ve learned.

Besides writing novels, nonfiction books and coaching, Hank lectures on fiction writing, publishing and book marketing.

It will be available on September 15, but it can be pre-ordered now at a reduced price. It’s available on Amazon, B&N and all the other popular book seller websites.

I’ve self-published a number of books and, for some time now, I’ve pondered how to integrate the publishing and the marketing into a single project. I think it’s a mistake to first publish the book and then start the marketing. That is how almost all the available books treat the two topics. There are books on publishing and there are books on marketing. This implies the two process are separate and distinct but they really aren’t separate. Publishing and marketing have to be done in parallel. That’s where my new book is different: it treats the two process as a single integrated project.

Besides the book, I’ve created a support page that has additional information and guides on the topics of publishing and marketing. You can find the support page at: https://padlet.com/hanque/b0boum9fw405

New reviews for Creating Your First

Here are three new reviews for my book: https://www.amazon.com/Creating-Your-First-Novel-comprehensive-ebook/dp/B0CJ7ZPYCZ?

“I read a lot of books on writing. I find it a fascinating subject and love to see various authors approaches, and feel there is always something new to learn. Even when the information covered is something I’ve read countless times before, sometimes it’s not what is being tau

“Authority that can not be questioned is tyranny" Terry Pratchett: A Slip of the Keyboard”

“Remy took a chair across from Jerado. A chess board and pieces sat in between them.
“Are you sure you remember the moves?” Jerado looked forward to recouping his card game losses.
“Y ..es. I . . . I practiced the moves in my office. I . . . I also read a scroll on playing the game.”
“Then you won’t object to betting on the outcome of the game?”
“N . . . o. H . . . ow much?”
“Let’s bet a modest sum. Say, twenty-five silver?” Jerado pushed a stack of silver pennies into the middle.
“A . . . ll right.” Remy pushed a similar stack forward.
“I’’ll let you have the first move,” Jerado said.
Remy moved a pawn forward to start the game.
Five moves later, Remy said, “C . . . heckmate,” and scooped up the silver coins.
Jerado sat stunned for a few moments. “Rematch.”
After Remy won four more games — the last for seven gold pennies — Jerado said through clenched teeth, “That’s enough for tonight, Remy. I’m tired.”
Hank Quense, The King Who Disappeared

“Most books on publishing deal with publishing by itself. Most books on marketing deal with marketing as a stand-alone project. I think this is the wrong approach. Self-publishing and book marketing have to be considered as an integrated project. That is what this book does; it treats publishing and marketing together as a unified project.”

Sam I'll be honest, I haven't read work by either of those authors but I've only recently been starting to expand what and who I read, thanks to Goodreads. I'll keep an eye out for them at the library though

Oh I'm jealous, I bet the original is far superior :-)

message 2: by Hank

Hank Quense If you like authors like Chris Moore or Tom Holt, I think you'll enjoy Fool's Gold. My wife and I have seen both fountains. The original is much better if only because it's surrounded by Rome, an unforgettable city

Sam Hiya Hank, thanks for the add :-)

I must say I did get quite excited when I read what Fools Gold was about, it sounds like the fantasy book with everything. I hope I do get it, if not I'm hitting the shops :-D

Unfortunetly it's not the Trevi Fountain but the replica one at Ceasar's Palace in Las Vegas. We were there last year for a friend's wedding. Still nice though but would love to go to Rome and see the original :-)
