A Very Deadly August (as far as books go, that is)

Hello Bloglandia!

I’m not sure how I managed it, but I seemed to have stumbled upon a whole lotta murders in August.

Sorry, I should clarify that…. a lot of FICTIONAL murders. I haven’t been going around getting a bit bashy-bash or stabby-stab with anyone. Mainly because it’s been too hot to lift any heavy objects or to step into the kitchen to grab a knife.

But I did seem to have a habit of picking up books where people just couldn’t stop getting murdered. I hope this was ju...

A Mouse-Filled Update and Cheap Escapes!

Hello, Bloglandia!

Two quick bits of news, one involving mice (eek!), and the other involving me taking you on a much-needed August escape.

Sorry, I should clarify that last bit: I’m not giving everyone in Bloglandia an all-expenses paid cruise. Maybe when I sign that blockbuster movie deal.

Instead, for now, you’ll just have to make do with some reading escapes.

Namely, the fifteen stories in The Great Escape, which are not only very enjoyable but also WON’T leave you with ...

Books! You Need More Books!

Happy Book Lovers Day, Bloglandia!

Books! You need more books!

I mean, how else will you celebrate National Book Lovers Day (9 August)? With those old books you’ve got mouldering on your shelf?

No! You need shiny new books for the big day, and the two bundles below are the perfect way to prepare for the big event.

The first contains a small selection of delightful cozy fantasy (that’s cozy mystery in a fantasy setting) books, while the second let’s you keep on reading and rea...

Am I Growing a Tail?

Hello Bloglandia!

How did July treat you? Did you have any fun in the sun, or did you do your best to avoid the big blazing orb of gas? Or, for those of you on the planet’s undercarriage… what sort of winter activities do you get up to down there?

As for me, I’ll try to keep this intro short since there’s a lot to cover this month, but July was full of writing and appointments, including my second bone density test.

Which does make me sound incredibly old and decrepit, but I’...

July’s Battle of the Sequels: Too-Funny Murder, Troublesome Sheep, and Tear-Jerking Tails

Hello Bloglandia!

Let me sum up July’s reading by saying I started a lot of books, and I abandoned a lot of books.

Which is so frustrating because every time I pick up a book, I’m thinking, “This is going to be amazing on some level.” Then when it’s not amazing on any level, well… enter the frustration.

Anyway, my frustration is not my point. My point is that even though three books did eventually stand out, I’ve decided to abandon my usual Top Three Reads format this time a...

Break out the sequined fedoras… Sleuthing Dragons are HERE!

Hello Everyone!

Now, I know the upcoming sentence might have had my medieval ancestors scrambling around in a panic, grabbing pointy farm implements, and locking up any vulnerable maidens, but…

A dragon is on the loose!

Okay, granted, he’s only on the loose on several retailers’ bookshelves, and he’d probably be more interested in omelets than maidens, but nevertheless, Duncan has been let loose to wreak sleuthing havoc and deliver bad puns once again.

In other words…

I...

Beastie Specials and Tea Goodies

Hello Everyone!

Just a few quick updates, then I’ll let you go find some other way to procrastinate!

First up… Sorry, it’s another reminder

I know I’m starting to sound like a broken record, but Too Claws for Comfort will be launched soon (very soon!), and I’ll finally shut up about pre-ordering it.

But until then…

Too Claws for Comfort (aka “Duncan #5) is still up for pre-order.

As a reminder, the release date is 15 July, but if you order directly from me, you can get...

You never know what you might find in the loo…

Hello Bloglandia!

How was your June? Likely pretty hot, depending on where you are in the world, so I’m hoping you haven’t melted into a pool of sweat or started frying eggs on the sidewalk just to prove a point about the heat.

So, I’ve been tossing around an idea of adding a new feature to the blog to share with you something that made me smile over the past month. Because, seriously, even if you’re now a pool of sweat, you still need something to smile about these days, right?...

June’s Top Three Reads… and one marmalade-filled extra

Hello Bloglandia!

June turned out to be a wonderful month of reading with two VERY clear winners for my top books… and one that was a tiny bit disappointing, but still strong enough to make the list.

Anyway, I’ll cut the preamble short so you can get right to the reads (and the one non-book extra) that I thoroughly enjoyed over the past few weeks.

Quick note of a “new feature” sort of thing going on below… I’ve added my star review to each pick. Not that you wouldn’t have no...

News, Reviews, and… Tea?

Hello Bloglandia!

I’ve got just a few quick bits of news, and then I’ll let you get back to some other form of procrastination.

1. I’ve FINALLY updated my website. I think.

“Redo website” has been on my to do list for, oh, maybe two years now. But I finally sucked it up and plodded through the chore of updating a few things, tidying it up A LOT, cleaning up the menu, and adding fancy schmancy book cover galleries everywhere.

No need to peruse the whole thing, but if you wa...
