What is old is new...

What is old to me is new to you. The fact that i'm the classic insomniac should come as no surprise. Seeing as how it's 2:03 am Atlanta time. The fact that somewhere in the world, someone is eating breakfast at this very moment with the chirp of birds and the early morning rays as the soundtrack to a new day does not quite help. The fact that in a few short hours the unfogiving southern heat will find a way to outwit the ever loving always in the summer running a.c unit is actually making it worst. The fact that I suffer horridly from Somniloquy {sleep talking} and that on numerous occasion, my fiance has quoted me saying quote PAGE-SPACE-DELETE end qoute is prompting the late night, or er early madness deeper into my veins. The habit is second nature. He 1/2 expects my side of the bed to remain cold in my absence... and it does. Welcome to my life

Can't-Look-Away

Few things in life are so gruesomely intriguing that you can't seem to look away. Take a train wreck for instance. It's awful. The clash of metal upon impact. The eerie blood chilling sound of failed brakes. The structure bending and twisting around itself like a pretzel. Just awful I tell you. So to the point that you wanna erase it from your mind as much as you wish to divert your eyes. But for the life of you... you just can't look away. This is the worst book ever... but I can't stop reading. Somebody make it stop.

3 Day Hiatus

Very unaplogetically... I take a 3 day hiatus. During this time I will decline phone calls and ignore emails. I will let the dishes pile to the outer edge of the sink until they spill over unto the counter tops. Dinner! What dinner? Make a sandwich, zap a hotdog, pop a pizza in the oven... it's every man and child for themself. There will be no contact with the world outside of Apt. 407. I will religously take Loritab as prescribed for this nagging, persistent, monthly reoccuring pain. I will curl up in the fetal position and do my best to divert my attentions in a feeble effort to lose myself inside of a book. I will try to be civil... I never said anything about being NICE =/. And I shall return on Monday. Until then.

Numero Dos

It's day 2 of my 3 Day Hiatus. And I must admit, this day is no better than the last. Loritabs have ceased to ebb my my agonizing pain (darn you Eve), so i've committed myself to drinking coffee every hour on the hour. It seems to be working thus far. All is well as long as I don't run out of java.

*Caffeine is a great pain reducer, but beware it is also a stimulant which is catogorized as... dare I say it... a drug! But relax, nobody's planning a trip to Columbia*

And with that I retreat with my umpteenth cup for the day...............

Breaking Protocol

It's customary in the South for the family to gather at a mutual meeting ground to 'fellowship' for Sunday dinner. Usually at an aunt's or grandmother's house. The aroma of skillet cornbread sweet in the air, mingled with the waft of field peas and ham hocks, fried chicken, and a pot of rice. Sitting in the sill, sweet potato pies cool as they await for dessert. I have carried this tradition over into my own home. My children have come to look forward to it just as I did when I was a child. Living in Atlanta has put a slight spin on this tradition and I gladly mix the two worlds, finding a wonderful balance to please all. And although I love the familiarity of my own childhood, I must confess, it is a tedious procedure. This is day 3 of my hiatus and it's quite unfortunate that it must fall on a Sunday. Instead of the expected i'm opting for quick and easy. Bacon, grits, eggs, biscuits, and french toast. Today i'm breaking protocol. I bet if my mother knew it'd break her heart. So mums the word ;-)

Social Network Piranha

It's very likely that out of a 24 hour day, I spend 20 of those hours perusing social networking sites. Facebook demanding most of my time, and Twitter a close 2nd. But these are only 80% of the whole. Goodreads, She Writes, Blogger, Stumble Upon, Youtube (yes youtube as a networking tool is quite efficient)... the list is so infinite i've had to create a folder to remember all the places I have profiles at and contribute to. My latest feat, updating my author website. An element overlooked, a blog link has been added. See you in the blogospehere. Get it...?

Sweet Medley

A symphony of sorts. Blackberry gelato, Lemon ice cream, and strawberry banana sorbeto. This sweet and cool summer treat is taking me back to my childhood in the country. Heat waves in mid air, dirt roads under bare feet, an unfelt breeze in the trees. I close my eyes and i'm transported to days long gone...

Ladies...

I am convinced there are two types of men in this world. There is the man that is so selfish in his own need that his happiness is obtained at the death of your dreams. Then there is the man that fuels your every ambition and in doing so is made happy. I've been favored and divinely blessed to have in my life the latter.
