Rebellion excerpt
Though the evening was chilly, they agreed not to build a fire lest the smoke attract unwanted attention. The people who’d brought blankets laid them out on the ground. Clarke watched fascinated as Cooper and Vale half-buried themselves under mounds of dried leaves.
“Do you want to give that a shot?” a low voice asked. Clarke turned to see Bellamy grinning at her.
Seeing him smile filled her chest with warmth, as her anxiety drained away. “I don’t need to. I brought a blanket, unlike some very noble, very foolish people I know.”
Bellamy folded his arms and gave an exaggerated shiver. “What do you think, doc?” he asked, craning his head back to look at the sky. “Will I risk exposure? Frost bite?”
“Don’t worry. If you get frostbite, I’m sure I’ll be able to amputate without much trouble. That knife you brought is pretty sharp, right?”
“Of course, there is always preventative medicine.”
“Yeah,” Clarke said, elbowing him in the side. “Like bringing a blanket."
“I did bring one.”
“What are you talking about? I saw you take it out of your pack.”
Bellamy smiled, and without another word, scooped Clarke off the ground, walked a little bit away from the others, and then toppled them both over into a massive pile of dried leaves.
“Let me go!” Clarke said with a laugh, scrambling to sit up.
“Man, this is one feisty blanket,” Bellamy said, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her back down toward him.
Her fatigue caught up with her, settling into her limbs. She relaxed and allowed herself to sink into him, resting her head on his chest. “Now this what the doctor ordered,” Bellamy said, running his hand through her hair.
“Leave the medicine to me, Blake,” she said sleepily. She took a deep breath, smiling as her senses flooded with her favorite scent in the world, a mix of campfire smoke, damp earth, pine needles, and salt—the smell of Bellamy.
He kissed the top of her head. “Get some rest.”
She snuggled deeper against him. “You, too.” But instead of feeling his breathing grow steady and his arms relax as he drifted off with her, she could tell he was wide awake, his heart racing.
Clarke lifted her head. Bellamy’s eyes were wide open, his jaw tense. “It’s going to be okay," she said. "We’ll find them and bring them home.”

21 Thoughts I Had While Writing Day 21
Hello! I'm VERY excited because The 100 Book 2: DAY 21 comes out in . . . wait for it . . . 21 Days!
To celebrate, I thought I'd share 21 THOUGHTS I HAD WHILE WRITING DAY 21. Enjoy!
1. Yay! Sequel time. I’m going to be SO much more disciplined this time around.
2. The right music is obviously step one. Gotta set the mood.
3. Turning on Taylor Swift.
4. This first chapter is going great. But why does that line sound so familiar?
5. Umm . . . probably can’t have Clarke tell Wells that “We are never ever everrrrr getting back together.”
6. Turning off Taylor Swift.
7. Coffee shop time! What should I wear to look literary?
8. Why is the coffee shop so crowded?! Maybe if I stand here, looking bookish and alluring, the guy reading Faulkner will offer me a seat at his table.
9. Oooh . . . open table . . . go go go go. Now the serious writing begins.
10. Ugg. Bellamy would NEVER say that. Deleeeeeeeete.
11. Is Faulkner boy looking at me? I should type really fast, so he knows that I’m a serious writer.
12. Oooh . . . he’s taking out a notebook. I wonder what HE’S writing.
13. Maybe if he figures out that I’m working on a book, he’ll come up with an excuse to say hello. I’ll just tilt the screen a little . . .
14. Not helpful. Okay, what if I take a sip of cappuccino and stare dreamily out the window?
15. Hmmm . . . Should Octavia tame a radioactive rabbit and keep it for a pet?
16. What should I name the rabbit? Which sci-fi writers haven’t I referenced yet?
17. Oh! I’ll call the rabbit Philip, for Philip K. Dick. Or Bradbury. Bradbury the bunny. Brilliant.
18. This bunny thing isn’t working at all. Complete waste of time. Sorry, Bradbury. Delete.
19. How much have I written? 2000 words to earn a muffin break! Oh . . . 289 words.
20. Aaaaaand Faulkner boy’s girlfriend just walked in. Okay! Back to writing! I wonder if it’s too early in the book for Bellamy to take off his shirt?
21. It’s NEVER too early . . .

Welcome to Earth
Hello, 100 Fans!
Have any of you been watching the show? I'd love to know what you thought of the first two episodes.
I've been having the BEST time seeing the characters come to life on screen, and have to admit that I'm crushing pretty hard on the actor who plays Bellamy, even if he is kinda a bad boy in the show. (Oh, who am I kidding? That's the best part!)
Anything you've enjoyed? Anything you look forward to seeing?
You might be interested in reading this article I wrote for the Huffington Post: 11 things you learn when your book is turned into a TV show.

First post!
Hello, Goodreads! Thanks to all of you who’ve taken the time to read and share your thoughts on THE 100.
I’m so excited for the book to come out (on sale this Tuesday!) and am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that it’s going to be a TV show. Just to clarify—the idea for the book came first, and the pilot was inspired by the manuscript, although the writers took the story in their own, very fun direction.
I hope you enjoy the book and then have the chance to check out the show, which should air sometime next year. Happy reading!
