I have written a good hundred pages in my journel with ideas for a new novel (Vision) and reminding myself why this new book could be a worthwhile and needed reminder about the threats to the earth (intention). This is all speech in the sense of being a bridge between the impulse to write and the actual writing. It's only when I actually start writing a chapter from a character's perspective, that I enter the Action step. Having these four approaches available helps with writer's block, just as having four doors into a house gives you several ways to get in. And when I don't feel inspired to write (or write about) this new novel, I can read and research and still feel that I am moving along a path.(less)

A Memorable Bath

I very rarely have a bath. I prefer a shower, standing like a horse in the mild racket of the rain. The dust and grit washing down the drain.
Years ago, when I was younger and more susceptible to chance suggestions, I had a bath I remember. I had been divorced for half a year or so, and was living with a girlfriend. Strange. she was already uncomfortable having me around, like a weird telescoping Read more of this blog post »

“Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedy.”

Steve Jobs
“Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
Steve Jobs
