Half Finished Released!

Welcome Half Finished!

Recognizing how common it is for crafters to start many projects and finish few, a group of women join together to form a guild -Unfinished Projects Anonymous-to keep each other on track and accountable.

As life unexpectedly changes for one of the members, this ensemble of women discovers that much of life is half-finished-projects, friendships, the raising of children, even our very relationship with the Lord. And that may be perfectly fine.

Happy reading!

From This Day Forward:
Deborah Longs to Marry, but She Never Thought She'd Have to Choose Between an Old Love and a New Possibility.

With the help of the young women of Blessing, Deborah decides that by the end of the summer she will either have won Toby's heart--or she'll give up on him forever.
Toby truly cares for Deborah, but he's never felt like he could commit to marriage or a family. When Anton Gendarme, the new schoolteacher, comes to town, sparks fly between Deborah and Anton. The sudden competition makes Toby do some serious soul-searching, but is it too late?
As the town of Blessing prepares for harvest, Deborah faces the most important decision of her life. But where does her heart truly belong?

The Second Half

The Second Half releases next month and I cant wait to share it with you!

What kind of plans do you have this week? This month? This year? It is so easy to make plans but sometimes life intrudes...
Mona and Ken Sorenson are approaching the best years of their lives. Mona's greatest concern is that Ken will learn of the surprise party she's planning for his retirement from his job as Dean of Students at Stone University. They've already been making plans to travel, spend limitless hours in the garden, and Ken is looking forward to working on his woodworking and fishing with his grandchildren. It's what they deserve after years of careful planning.

But things begin to unravel when Ken learns that office politics are about to destroy his department. Can he really just leave, abandoning the work he spent a lifetime achieving? Mona is eager to build her event planning business with Ken's help, but rather than supporting her, he expresses concern that the stress of the work will send her back into the depression she struggles with.

Then, just days before Ken's last official day of work, their son, a Special Forces officer in the Army, learns he's being immediately deployed on a six-month mission in Pakistan. Since his wife left him, the only people he trusts to care for his two young children are his parents. In an instant, everything Ken and Mona spent their lives planning changes, and they will need to find strength, both physical and mental, to become parents once more. This is not the second half they wanted, and when their son fails to contact them as planned, they struggle to trust that it is God's plan, not theirs, that matters most.

Home Again

It must seem I am always on the road. Two days after returning from my last trip, I was off again to Indiana to see a dear friend graduate. It just shows that you can do anything you put your mind to and it’s never too late to start a new adventure.

We visited Amish country while we were out there. A really flashy trotter pulling an Amish buggy made me smile. Beautiful farms, even round barns. And green, glorious greens everywhere. I can now recognize red bud trees---lovely pinky-red color. We stopped for a meal and oh my… the blueberry pie!

Still trying to catch up from being gone. Bit by bit. The new book is starting slowly, but that is expected at this stage. Still lots of details to research. I learned about steam ships on the Great Lakes the other day. Amazing how you can not only look up fairs for a specific trip in 1910, but check the dinner menu as well!

Working on the Wisconsin tour. There are still spaces for more venues. Reading groups, libraries, book stores, women's meetings, Sons of Norway lodges, get creative in getting a group together. I look forward to hearing from you.

I now have a plumbed in faucet in the greenhouse. Hot digetty! My roses have never had these huge blossoms before and the snowball bush is the same. Huge blooms. I’m going to spend some time with the new IPhone camera out there tomorrow taking pictures. Got the Easter lilies in the ground today. The ones from last year are popping up. My peonies are starting to open. There are buds on the ones transplanted this spring. Surprise. God surprises me with such delightful gifts.

What has He surprised you with lately? Keep track and remember to thank Him. I ask Him to help me be aware of both delights and struggles, still hard to appreciate both. That's where a sacrifice of praise comes in. Another gift today. A half grown bunny out by the fence along the gravel road. The light shown pink through bunny ears. On our way rejoicing....haven't thought of that song for a long time. A real keeper.
Hugs to you all, pass 'em on.

A Writing Vacation

Blessings to all, dear friends. Thanks again for your prayers and best wishes. May we all rejoice in each day for God says His mercies are new every morning. That means He never runs out or runs down. Now that is a comfort.
This week I was blessed to travel to Sea Ranch with my good friend Eileen to WRITE like crazy. For those who don’t know, Sea Ranch is on the Pacific coast about 100 miles north of San Francisco. I’ve been writing and loving the sun shine here. My son visited and we walked the headlands, loving the ocean and all the wildflowers that are blooming. I was able to walk freely again! Less than three months since the knee replacement. I am still hoping to see flocks of pelicans, seals, perhaps whales, and lots of other birds, including hummingbirds at the tea tree shrub by the house.
The book is progressing. I’ve got a couple of books on that era along to read. What I would like to find are personal experience stories. Going to check with Blackduck and see if they have any such thing in their historical society. Been studying on the lumbering in early MN. Really interesting. And did you know, Duluth was once a metropolis for logging and mining. The big trees did a lot for that state.
Today was clouds, sun, mist, rain, clouds. No walking the headlands but pages and plotting and going to the Two Fish bakery for a latte, a baguette, outstanding, and two cookies each. They make great lattes too. Maybe we'll stop there on our way out tomorrow. Supposed to have thunder and lightening tomorrow. Good time to be going back to Eileen's. More birds here today than other days. Sea Gulls and Turkey Vultures.
Eileen started the fire in the rock fireplace so we have that pleasure now too. We leave tomorrow noonish. Sigh. Have I mentioned how I love the song of surf? Blessings to all and may you delight in the special gifts God sends and that includes Himself. He surrounds us All--- amazing always. Hugs from the Northern California Coast, and the ocean and the redwoods!

Summer Tour!

On the road again! We are planning the Summer tour and looking for places to visit! This year I hope to visit Wisconsin and Eastern Minnesota the last week of July to the first week of August.
Do you have an idea for a stop? In the past, some great places have been Sons of Norway Lodges, churches, libraries, and book stores but other venues are great too. We will be launching my new book The Second Half, set in Stoughton, WI, so we are especially hoping to visit there!
If you think that you may be interested in hosting a signing or know someone that is, please email me with contact information at tlsnelling@yahoo.com.
We are hoping to start mapping out potential stops in the next week or two, so we look forward to hearing from you.
I can't wait to get out to see you all!

A New Start

Last year was... a challenge. I wanted to do so many things that I ended up behind on everything. I am sure you know feeling. Before I knew it I was behind on my writing, behind on spending time with friends and family, and behind on taking care of me. It was not a happy place to find myself.

Then came the unexpected, a relatively minor car accident that forced me to take some time to heal and think. What I realized was very simple. I love my life and and I am so very blessed with the gifts and people our Lord has placed in it.

I have determined that I must work smarter, not harder. Again, I am sure that you can relate!

One of my great joys is my Facebook family. Sharing the small joys, challenges and observations of the day is one of my pleasures. I know that many people follow my Official Facebook page, but more and more I get requests on my personal page. I would love to share my daily posts with all of you... but did you know you can only have 5000 Facebook friends? It a huge number until you realize that you are full.

Therefor, I have decided to re-launch this blog. In the spirit of smarter not harder, much of what will appear here will be from my Facebook page but it will also include announcements of book releases, tours, etc.
I hope to see you here soon!
