M. D. IREMAN was diagnosed as 'left-brained' early in life due to a troublesome affliction: an affinity for math and science. The stigma of his condition followed him from primary school into college, where he earned a scholarship to the Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science. Against the pleas of his doctors, he gave up his scholarship to pursue a different calling, and has been building Sci-Fi and Fantasy worlds professionally for nearly two decades.

My favorite thing about this book was the sympathy you created for even the most vile characters. Is there a planned "big bad," or do you plan to continue showing from each point of view? Also, my daughter and I had to take an unplanned, 30 hour road trip, and The Axe and The Throne made most of that trip a great one for us, so thank you.

There are two somewhat major characters in the first book, a woman and a young man, where one would really have to be reading between the lines to find any cause for sympathy. It exists (arguably), but not in the told storyline.

Typically in fantasy the "big bad" or "great satan" tends to involve more than no apparent cause for sympathy - their destruction is the "win" condition for all the protagonists and/or the realm. In that sense, there don't exist any in books 1 or 2 (no date set for 2 yet, sorry). I don't avoid characters like that as a rule, however, I wouldn't expect any to develop in this series.(less)
