A Look Inside Lean Change Management Part II: Practicing What We Preach

Some of you know the story of Lean Change Management (LCMA), but here’s a quick refresher.

The ideas started percolating around 2008. I spoke at a few conferences from 2010-2012, discussing some of the ideas, and then I published a video series on Pearson Live Lessons and Safari Books. Finally, the first version of the book came out in 2012, chapter by chapter on Leanpub.

Jurgen Appelo and Vasco Duarte started an experiment called Hap...

The Day I Resisted Change

You may have heard this story before. It was TWENTY years ago, and my startup was acquired by a company run by serial entrepreneurs who bought, grew and sold companies.

I worked as a developer, musician (making ringtones for cell phones), graphic designer (making images for cell phones), project manager, client manager for Much Music, and many other brands. If you’ve ever worked for an early-stage startup, you’ll understand that your e...

A Look inside Lean Change Management

Over the years, I’ve talked to a handful of business advisors, personal coaches, peers and entrepreneurs because when you’re a solopreneur, it’s hard to bounce ideas off yourself! They would always ask me: What’s your vision? Where’s your mission statement? What’s your roadmap for the future? Where’s your hiring strategy? What’s your revenue strate...

The Meaning of Co-Creation

Today is the first day of school, and while it’s usually a time for parents to crack open a bottle of wine in celebration, today, we’re cracking open a bottle of wine because they’ll only be in classes for about 5 hours a week.

I’ve received twenty-one emails since late August when the back-to-school plan was announced. Many are multiple pages long, and that doesn’t include the messages sent directly to our kid’s school email addresses...

Co-Creating a Better Future for Humanity

Eight years ago, in 2012, I went to the first Lean Startup Machine event in Toronto where our team won first prize by validating our idea and selling our prototype for $50. At the time, I was working as a product owner, and my company was looking to be the first to offer iPad applications within investor relations.

Our team from LSM Toronto, 2012

A few years before that, we had spent a bunch of time and loot building essentially what y...
