BOOK PRICING FIASCO

BOOK PRICING FIASCO

Launch day for a new book is exciting, except when Amazon raises the paperback price from $20.95 to $48.75 after you have already mailed out over 100 postcards, and posted the news on your 2 FB pages, Twitter account, your personal website, and blog. YIKES!!!
I don't know if any of you authors have had this same nightmare scenario, but I can tell you that it really, really sucks! You get bombarded with emails, FB messages, and phone calls asking why such a high price? “Is there a gold ingot tucked inside?” (Well, okay, nobody asked that.) “Did you win the Pulitzer Prize in literature?” (Yeah, I know, no one would believe that.) Who the heck do you think you are? (Nothing that rude, yet. Fingers crossed.) Still, I wouldn’t expect my sweet Mother, may she rest in peace, to pay $48.75 for my book. Is it worth $20.95? Yes, I believe it is.
So what happens now? My wonderful publisher, Angela Hoy at BookLocker.com, is hashing this out with Amazon, but fighting the mighty giant is no easy task, but if anyone can tame the beast, it’s Angela. In the meantime, the paperback is available for the $20.95 price at Barnes and Noble and BookLocker.com. The ebook is available for the normal price at Amazon, B&N, Walmart, I-tunes, Kobo, etc.
If you live outside the US, the paperback price is much less, although I just noticed a spike there as well. Ecco la vita!
When, if, the price gets back to normal, I will certainly let you all know. I do hope that everyone who has already purchased the book in one form or another, or who buys a copy in one form or another will enjoy the read.
Best wishes!
Tanti auguri!
Pam
