Principles of Harmony: The River
There is a Finnish lecturer who was quoted saying, "I found THE ONE after four marriages." And I thought about the many distinguished individuals I've spoken to who have told me their own similar stories. Meeting THE ONE after three, four, five marriages.
Just think, how unfortunate it is for many who never get to experience their own lives in the full capacity of expression that was intentionally meant for them to live, because instead of embracing THEIR OWN STORY that life has prepared for them, they rather struggle and strive to make their stories match another person's legacy. They want to stay married to their high school sweetheart like how their grandparents did; they want to stay married to their first spouse like their parents did; they want their lives to fall in line with a narrative, a status quo, an IDEAL.
We live in such a hyper-idealistic era, that we in fact throw away the wondrous scripts life has in store for us, in favour of walking a single straight line we have drawn down on a piece of paper!
I wonder about all of the breathtaking love stories and vibrant tales of hope, that people never got to live because they were too busy holding onto a lamppost thinking the floodwaters were about to drown them.
I have spoken to far too many radiant people in this world, for me to not see, that what you deem as floodwater, is actually YOUR OWN RIVER designed specifically for you, to carry you to places so great you couldn't have even planned it out yourself even if you wanted to!
People often say, "the plans of God for me are great" but then they won't flow in their own River. People spend years' worth of their lives quoting God while gripping savagely onto lampposts instead of trusting their own flow rushing through them.

I wonder how beautiful, how intricate, how detailed and harmonious, the pages of your story really are meant to be; if only you had a bit of trust, a bit of faith, a bit of letting go, and a bit of an adventurous spirit. But you'll never know until you recognize your river and let it catch you in its flow.
