Slay this enemy - Lust
Once a devotee asked, “ Shree Shambav, How then can we overcome desire so that the mind rests in peace forever?”
Shree Shambav smiled and said, “The secret lies in a very fundamental error in our judgement. Deep inside our intellect, a decision lies firmly entrenched that ‘we’ are the body. All that we associate is usually with the body or the mind.”
Devotee asked, “Master, Body and mind?”
Shree Shambav said, “Yes, We seek anything related with sense organs, material and physical objects that give pleasure to this body and mind as the source of happiness. We ‘think’ that pleasuring the body and mind will give us happiness.”
Shree Shambav said, “We consider our identity to be the body and we associate ourselves with the body(Deha) and consider ‘I’ to be this gross body. This is the fundamental error and understanding.”
Devotee asked, “ Master, Who am ‘I’?”
Shree Shambav said, “ If one realises the true ‘I’ that is the soul(Atman), not the body or mind. He will search for the ultimate truth and true happiness.
Devotee asked, “Master, Is that simple?”
Master said, “Lord Krishna continues his very important sermon to Arjun in chapter 3, verses 42 and 43 of the ‘Bhagavad Gita ‘.”

manasas tu para buddhir yo buddheh paratas tu sah||
Meaning:- The senses are superior to the gross body and superior to the senses is the mind. Beyond the mind is the intellect, and even beyond the intellect is the soul.
evam buddheh param buddhvaa samstabhyatmaanam atmana
jahi shatrum maha-baaho kama-rupam durasadam
Meaning:- Thus knowing the soul to be superior to the material intellect, O mighty-armed Arjun, subdue the lower self (senses, mind, and intellect) by the higher self (strength of the soul), and kill this formidable enemy called lust.
Shree Shambav said, “The knowledge of the sequence of superiority amongst the senses, mind, intellect, and soul, can now be used for rooting out desire and lust.”
Shree Shambav said, “we should slay this enemy called lust through knowledge of the self. Since the soul is a part of the supreme, it is divine. Thus, the divine bliss it seeks can only be attained from a divine subject, while the objects of the world are all material. These material objects can never fulfil the innate longing of the soul and so it is futile to create desires for them. We must exert and train the intellect to think in this manner, and then use it to control the mind and the senses.”
