Right now, I'm binge-watching Glee... It is so High School and yet it reminds me of Goodreads too.

There are so many popular kids who like my autistic granddaughter are so self-absorbed.

Constantly acting out, seeking the attention of others, adding to their friends list while shining on and ignoring the ones they already have because they already have them. You must be important for them to notice and only until you've served your purpose.

There are other autistic kids who are so painfully shy that they don't even try to get noticed. Afraid that if you do notice them you will shove them into a locker because you can. Secretly, I know they do it because they want to impress the popular people and hide how shy they are themselves.

My granddaughter doesn't think I see through her behavior, but I do, and I try to help her see through it herself, but it is a processing issue, and it takes a lot of work to get your points across to her.

It makes me so happy when I see those small changes in her behavior that indicate I'm getting through... just a little.
