We've all heard the phrase, "You can't please everyone." I think most of us, to some degree, can appreciate the truth this statement holds.
In the short time that Face the Music has been available, some people have pointed out certain qualities of the story that they most enjoyed (like the pacing of the story or the personalities of the characters). As a writer, those types of comments are what inspire me to keep writing.
What has become so interesting, though, is the feedback that criticizes those very aspects of the book that other people so highly praise. It just goes to show that, no matter how hard we try, it really is impossible to please everyone.
So, now I'm wondering, all you Contemporary/New Adult Romance fans, what aspects of a story do YOU enjoy most? Do you prefer an intense, fast-paced drama? Or do you prefer to take things slow? How much "heat" do you look for in those love scenes? Do you want to know every little last detail, or would you rather some things be left to the imagination? Talk to me about characters...is your ideal heroine sweet and shy or more of a troublemaker at heart? What about our heroes?
It is the diversity of opinion that makes the world such an interesting place...

With the fast pace, every word needs to push the story forward and constant conflict so when that HEA comes it's oh so satisfying :D
I love quirky, snarky heroines who have powerful males who exude that power, but when you see them in their day to day they are just laid back guys. They throw out that fight when it needs to go out there. But when it's not needed they sit back and relax. They don't need to SHOW people they are awesome. They just are and you can feel it emanating off them. That's how cool they are ;)
