Prologue
I thought I'd share a little of the prologue with everyone. Enjoy!
Rastok the Lion walked to the edge of the fissure and peered over the edge. A Light Barrier prevented him from seeing the bottom. “He’s down there?” but as he asked, the ground shook. A resonating bang erupted from below, and Rastok saw the Light Barrier flicker and waver. Bergathon’s jaws appeared and snapped at the transparent blockade unable to penetrate it. “How long can the lights hold him?”
“Long enough for us to set the lock,” said Tobu.
The lock, Rastok thought. The lock will be made of ten beings, leaders of the elements. “Will it hold him?”
Achora laughed. “Relax, Rastok. Everything will be as planned.”
“Forgive my doubts, Achora. I’ve seen what Bergathon has been able to accomplish, and we cannot allow it to happen again.”
Tyshuba nodded. “We all have seen the measure of his destruction. He will be bound and guarded by the elements until there is enough power to put him to rest for good.”
Rastok finally turned his gaze to the ten elemental representatives who waited for instructions. Each loyal element had proven its worth in the war against Bergathon, and Rastok couldn’t imagine getting to this point without any of them. “Thank you for being here,” he said to the group.
Tobu put a hoof on Rastok’s back. “It’s time for your judgement, brother.”
Rastok again gazed down into the abyss. In a loud voice that saturated the air above and the ground below he said, “Bergathon, god of chaos, I bear witness to your crimes against this world. You have caused the unnecessary destruction of many important places the gods created and have set the elements against each other. You started a war that could have broken all our existences. Therefore, I, Rastok, god of justice, pronounce the sentence of death upon you.”
In a rumble that shook the ground, Bergathon began to laugh. “You can’t kill me!” he screamed, testing the barrier again with his jaws. A wave of concern covered the crowd of elementals.
Rastok raised his voice louder to cover Bergathon’s laughter. “Not yet, but I promise you, justice will be given in time.”
