Hi, PE. If you have time, you might want to take a look at my short poem "Ishmael" that was published online @ Bewilderingstories.com in this week's Issue 1103. The poem was inspired by "Moby Dick." There's also a brief reference to the poem and its connection to Melville's novel in this issue's "Critics Corner."
Hi Gary! Oh, I certainly will, right away: I'm keen on these nautical (mis)adventures, thanks for the reference, much appreciated!
Safe aboard, the rescued Ishmael breaks his silence,
carving memories in scrimshaw.
This is a fine verse if there is any! An arresting image!
Unsurprisingly and fittingly, Exodus 15:7-8 is quoted as an epigraph:
“In the greatness of your majesty
you threw down those who opposed you.
You unleashed your burning anger;
it consumed them like stubble.
By the blast of your nostrils
the waters piled up.
The surging waters stood up like a wall;
the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea.

Thanks for reading, P.E. Melville's novel is filled with Biblical allusions. See also, for example, Father Mapple's sermon on Jonah & the "great fish."
