Jonathan Palfrey It does feel to me like a novella that got out of hand. I like it, but it seems slightly less ambitious in scope and plot than your (other) novels. I'm glad you decided not to split it: it feels like a whole thing, even though it feels like a big novella. Congratulations on freeing yourself from pre-set templates.

Critter I love the novellas in the Pen and Des world, short tales I can reread endlessly. But I screamed for joy when that one came out and it was book sized. It one of my favorites in the series!

Jonathan Palfrey Yes, the extra length seems to give it extra rereadability.

Margaret It seems to me that the flexibility of the e-format as regards length frees each of the Pen & Des stories to find its proper shape.

Susan Price The Price family continues to applaud each new work from you, Lois. Whatever the length and whenever the spirit of composition moves you to write.

Mitali I just read it a couple of weeks ago, and I agree that it reads more like an extra-long novella than a truly full-fledged novel (fewer twists and turns, for example). However, that's not a bad thing - it's still one of my favourite Pen & Des stories (probably its only 'flaw' is not enough Nikys!).
