For the asker: If you can, you should request it as an ebook from your local library! That way you can read the book without having the cover connected to it
@Libby Probably would do so. Still, it makes me kinda sad because I really wanted to have the physical edition.
That or I'll see if the Spanish translation chooses to have a different cover.
@curlyfriesareawesome Barnes and Noble doesn't ship to my country haha. I still have got a small hope my country's edition has an alternate cover .
As a librarian, if you (or your child) comes to see me wanting to check out this book, or any book for that matter, I will do everything I can to make sure that you get it. If that means, finding an ebook or anything else - I will do what's in my power to do so. (this unfortunately doesn't help op but this is just a PSA to anyone in the states.)
I'm actually slightly worried about the same thing... It's not that there are two people holding hands, but the fact that it's two boys instead of a boy and a girl that my parents might be uncomfortable with.
Maybe someone could make a dust cover for the book that was downloadable and printable?
Sad chuckle: They could have the two boys stabbing each other instead, it is often considered more okay. :'(
Or just have them not hold hands. (Sad sigh).
You'd probably need to print on a size A3 paper or theresabout. I would go to photoshop right away and fix it for you, were it not that it would be obvious infringement of copyright. So either each person will have to do it privately for themselves, or the artist must give their okay to do it. Or even better, make that change and put it online themselves.
Sorry for spamming. I have just checked out the cover. They are not really holding hands, both their right hands are just held forward so that they cross. You can just tell your parents they are arguing, and your parent will be glad that you are reading about boys who fight.

Like @Libby said, you can always read it as an ebook from your local public library.
This isn't the best idea, but you can always ship the book to your friend's house (order it from Barnes and Noble or smth).
I'd recommend buying a book cover, but this only works for hardcover books (i mean, it does for paperback too but they'll get damaged).
