Betule Sairafi Because it's gross and unnecessary. Have you seen *ahem* *cough* a certain book a lot of people were waiting for that ended up filled with page after page of a certain favorite character waking up and... pissing off the side of the boat?

message 2: by Christomir (new)

Christomir Rackov Haha... Betule, are you talking about ADwD, by any chance?

message 3: by Betule (new)

Betule Sairafi I think you know that that's exactly what I'm talking about. :)

message 4: by Christomir (new)

Christomir Rackov Well then, Michael certainly hasn't read THAT book :P Judging by his review, he couldn't even make it all the way through AGoT, let alone any of the sequels...

Teri Actually, I believe that I recall Hadrian and Arista heeding the call of nature in separate scenes. Not sure why I remember this other than I just finished a full chronological re-read of the two series.

message 6: by Abbie (new)

Abbie Yes- it was briefly mentioned in Rise of Empire. However, I very much appreciate that it was very subtle, not taking away from the point of the story, and just done in passing

Lo9man88 Well i think a lot of our heroes and especially heroines might lose some glamor if caught in a "crappy" unflattering light, a lot of readers might "wake up" and lose the mysterious glamor woven by the writer ....
As for moving the plot forward it is of course very possible and realistic to involve ""shitting" as a pivotal moment : many battles were won by gaining access to the enemy's boiling cooking pots and adding some poison or diarrhea-causing plants and many fearsome warriors however strong or skillful they are get caught with their pants on the ground or kilts up in the air or crapping endlessly in their suit of armour ....
