Pam of course I have heard and eaten fried green tomatoes! but have never heard of hot brown? Would you mind sharing what that is?

By the way, I have a cousin who lives in Texas. But he wants to move to Florida, lock, stock, and barrel. He also used to live in Newark.
Was he born in the States?

Não tem de quê, Lesle. Assim que possível, irei expressar-me na linguagem portuguesa. Beijinhos e abraços para todos."
You're welcome, Lesle. As soon as possible, I'll express myself in Portuguese. Kisses and hugs to everyone
Share these thoughts with others if you like.
I have a friend on here that will type in both English and Spanish and post his reviews in English first (with a divider line) than in Spanish. I think it is really great that he does that. I try to read it both. Will help bring back schooling eventually, I hope!

Im hoping as well this is not the casel. It is not how I look at Steinbeck's work without brutality.

I was just telling Rosemarie that here in Ohio it has been quite chilly overnight. They are talking about it even getting down into the 30s.
I have turned the furnace on twice now to knock the chill off the house. Luckily once is all that is required at the moment.
Usually I like to wait till October to even think about the furnace haha!
It is a bit cloudy today and am trying to get some things done on my cleaning list. I got the canned cupboards cleaned and organized and pitched some stuff that I will never use.
I have my bedding to wash and maybe two other loads of regular stuff to wash. Hopefully by than the grass will be dry and I can cut the patches of grass that need done. We did get a sprinkling of rain last night. Nothing has been heavy enough to get under the trees which is sad for the grass.
I hope everyone has an enjoyable day!

I do not see why not Luis.

No worries about the reading challenges. Just do what you feel is appropriate for you. Life has to always come first and I am happy that you are getting there. Best wishes to you Anne, sincerely.

However, I first need to finish one of the books I've started."
That is great! No worries about finishing the other. We have plenty of time!

You are way ahead of me! Ive got some catching up to do.

🌸 2015: All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
I just saw this is being advertised on NETFLIX
Anne I am happy to see you back to hopefully getting a chance to enjoy reading again.
Take care of yourself.

Most of you are a much faster reader than I, but hopefully I can keep up with everyones thoughts as we go.

Still have this on my list to get caught up with.

The placid shores of the Ipiranga heard,
the resounding shout of a heroic people.
And the sun of Liberty in shining beams,
shone in the homeland's sky at that instant.
If the pledge of this equality
we managed to conquer with strong arm,
in thy bosom, O Freedom,
our chest defieth death itself!
O beloved,
idolized homeland,
Hail, hail!
Brazil, an intense dream, a vivid ray
of love and hope to earth descendeth.
If in thy beautiful, smiling and limpid sky,
the image of the [Southern] Cross blazeth.
Giant by thine own nature,
Thou art beautiful, strong, a fearless colossus,
And thy future mirrors that greatness
Chorus:
Adored land
Amongst a thousand others
art thou, Brazil,
O beloved homeland
Of the sons of this ground
Thou art kind mother
Beloved homeland, Brazil!
II
Eternally lying on a splendid cradle,
to the sound of the sea and in the light of the deep sky.
Thou flashest, o Brazil, crocket of America,
illuminated by the sun of the New World.
Than the most ostentatious land,
thy smiling, beautiful meadows have more flowers.
"Our forests have more life,"
"Our life" in thy bosom "more loves".
O beloved,
idolized homeland,
Hail, hail!
Brazil, of eternal love, may
the starry ensign which thou displayest be a symbol.
And may the laurel-green of this pennon say:
"Peace in the future and glory in the past."
But if thou raisest the strong cudgel of justice,
thou shalt see that a son of thine fleeth not from battle,
nor do those who love thee fear death itself.
Chorus

Francisco Manuel da Silva (21 February 1795 – 18 December 1865) was a Brazilian songwriter and music professor, notable for composing the Brazilian National Anthem.
Are you related? or just a very popular last name for Brazillians?

Thank you Kathy!
I sent a message to member Ila she was another that was interested in this one. Hopefully she is in as well.
