I bought a used copy of This Other Eden a long while ago but still haven't got around to reading it."

The "Sweeping Saga" heading caught my eye and I had to delve deeper.

Sweeping saga for me has always meant a historical romance that takes place over the course of the hero/heroin..."

Angst is always a plus.

37800 There's River of Destiny, and The Fairest Portion Of The Globe by Frances Hunter might qualify. The Last Casquette Girl and Louisiana Dawn, although I wouldn't qualify the last two as "sweeping sagas" for this group.

37800 Thought I'd pop in and mention this book. Not quite finished, but really interesting read and learning all kinds of new factoids.

Inherit the Sun by Maxwell Grant.

37800 I really wanted to start The Killing Anniversary last night. The font size sent me running in the other direction :o

37800 Coupla of new finds today. Tiny font warning on bother. Can't upload the covers until I'm back at work on monday.

The Killing Anniversary (I have a different cover)

This sounds deliciously awesome, Water of Life

I was the same way.

Covington's a short hop for me, plus I have to go to Costco anyway. Definitely trouble, but I'll let you know what I find.

Thanks Pat. Take a nap now.

Out by Covington. I'm a bit worried though, since it's in a used book store and not a room at the library. Double trouble. I think I'm going tomorrow morning.

With incredibly tiny font :)

37800 Lol. Don't panic, there's only one book. Several others are getting ready to read this and I set up threads for each *book* (section), so they could discuss more openly.

37800 Pat, isn't that a great story? I feel so bad that I bought the book (and sample it) before I realized how she felt about it. What little I read, it was very dire.

37800 I don't know much about silkworms. Seems there was another book years ago that dealt with them. A Rosalind Laker book maybe?

I think you'll like Guests of the Emperor. That was made into a TV mini series/movie of the week. You might want to hunt that down.

Funny story about the author of Guests, Janice Young Brooks. I like most of her books and have been hunting down her back list out of curiosity (no covers and descriptions. The latest one was In Love's Own Time, which turned out to be a half-sister of Margaret of Anjou. I read about 50 pages and then found the author's website where she lists her books, except for two that she won't name and asks her readers to burn if they ever find one. I'm pretty sure this was one of the two.

I mailed it off to Susan Higginbotham :D
