An introductory reading list on Middle Eastern history and politics. The list is derived with a few minor changes from Listmuse (http://www.listmuse.com/best-middle-e...)

In terms of geographic range, I have included the North African littoral and the Maghreb within the Middle East, and have drawn the eastern edge to include Iran. Specific studies on Afghanistan and Pakistan are therefore not included.
