Maisie is so different than most women of her time: independent, not bogged down by social restraints, a career woman well before that was heard of. Did you model her character after any special historical figures?

Maisie is very much a woman of her time in post WW1 Britain. Thank you for sharing Maisie with me.. she has gotten me through some tough times. I am interested in her connection to the gypsies who were at the hop picking. Do gypsies, Roma, whatever you care to call this group have a big part in English history? Will they resurface in Masie's life? It seems like such a strong connection for her.
