The latest book, This Grave Hour, is SO good! My only complaint is that I wish I could have stayed in the world longer. Is Maisie ever coming to TV for a long, slow adaptation like Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries? I'd watch!

I don't think any adaptation would be like the Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries - the Maisie Dobbs' series is more akin to a saga, following a series of characters through time. Mind you, I've never watched the Miss Fisher Mysteries, so I can't really comment. However, I really can't predict whether the series will come to TV - it's been optioned by a production company (which is the way most of these things start), but only time will tell. The Maisie Dobbs books are the first I recommend to friends looking for a new mystery series. I describe them as up there with Dorothy Sayers in the quality of the writing. Maisie is such a complex character with practicing meditation as well as her innate intelligence, perseverance and above all, kindness. She is totally unselfish. Will she ever find personal contentment with a new love interest?
