B4 asked Maggie Shayne:

I’m reading the Once Upon a Time set & like the story but hate blasphemy. I keep reading hoping it isn't throughout the set. Can you tell me if it is & if it is in the book 2? I'm really interested in seeing how the story turns out & I don’t like either but would prefer the F bomb over GD. I didn't see anything in the reviews to warn me about the language so I'm hoping it isn't throughout the set. Thnx for your help.

Maggie Shayne I'm sorry if the language offends you. I use the words I feel best convey the emotion in any given situation and try to make my characters speak both like real people speak, and like the people they are. This is the task of every writer. It always fascinates me how readers who are okay with premarital sex and villains who commit murder and mayhem, get offended by the words "God damn" which actually is a prayer, of sorts. You're kind of calling down God's wrath on the person or situation you're referring to when you say those words. You're saying, "God, I wish you would damn this person (or thing.)" (aka condemn them to hell.) So there's really not a thing wrong with using the line if you understand its true meaning.
