Arina
Arina asked Christopher Paolini:

A part of the inheritance cycle that intrigued me was the vegetarianism of the elves. But I've never quite understood why Eragon quit being vegetarian. I understand that he had to eat meat to survive when he saved Katrina's father but if I got this correctly he started eating meat again after that. Why!? He knew of the suffering of the animals and yet he made the unethical choice of eating meat.

Christopher Paolini Thanks for your question, Arina! I tried to explain in the books why someone might want to avoid meat, but I also tried to explain the opposing view through Saphira’s perspective. One of my goals as an author is to explore various aspects of human nature. It is my job to attempt to understand and explain why people make the choices they do, whether I agree with them or not.
