How can I suggest ways my college-bound daughter could reduce her chances of being among the 1-in-5 women students sexually assaulted without absolving the assaulters?

Roxane Gay I don't honestly know that there is anything women can do to reduce her chances of being assaulted. It can happen anytime, anywhere and that's what is so terrifying. There are, of course, the usual tips--always let a friend know where you are, never take drinks from strangers and the like but as you note, we need to focus more on assaulters and teaching them to not commit assault.
