M.N. Arzu Ah, that one's easy: my mother's last name is "de Guise", meaning it comes from the House of de Guise in France. About a hundred years ago, for some reason, my mother's great-grandfather came to America without leaving any trace to his decision. Was he running away from trouble? A family dispute? The impulse of adventure? Why leave France and come to a tiny country in the Americas?

It's a mystery we haven't been able to discover, and it has plenty of drama to make a compelling story.
